It’s simply a ‘known issue’ which OP unfortunately discovered first-hand, that Verizon specific models have a modified OS that cannot ever be bootloader unlocked (without exploits) - regardless of SIM lock. It really is their corporate policy. And why I buy my devices directly from the OEM even though I could in theory get a discount from Verizon (happens to be my carrier… For now.)
Some apps show as incompatible with my tablet (Lenovo Y700 Gen 2) even though they work fine. I can often share those from my phone directly in the Play Store.
The article says I could use Files going forward, but it doesn’t work - Quick Share is missing entirely on the tablet and I haven’t found a way to enable/install it
Oh! Good find. Looks like the way to do this is by implementing ACTION_GET_CONTENT. I can’t help you beyond that (I don’t have a dev environment set up and am a novice anyway)

Requires either Shizuku or root, but works well enough that I forgot it wasn’t the default until you reminded me.
I got ‘lucky’ and guessed the 4th word first (after misspelling it a bunch and looking up the correct way) which cleared letters to find word 2, then eventually 3, then 1 was easy. I can easily see it taking over an hour if I hadn’t guessed that longest one first.
This was my second time playing this.

The package names would not be different if it’s installing a different (possibly malevolent) version of the same app.
Only the signature and other metadata would be different, but if the package name were different it would show as a different app entirely in places like f-droid, not as installed from elsewhere. It would show the intended app as not installed at all if the package name of the Xiaomi version wasn’t the same.
Since I don’t see it yet…
Super Hexagon
It’s one of the simplest games possible, the controls are “clockwise” and “counterclockwise”, and there are no distracting characters, setting, or story.
And yet the easiest level is – quite accurately – labeled as difficulty “Hard”. The next 5 levels (6 total) go way up in difficulty (and labelling) from there.
Each level lasts 60 seconds. If you can survive that long. I’ve never unlocked the final level myself, so I don’t even know what it is like, but I can guess.
If they work with an unlocked bootloader then they would almost certainly also work fully rooted, with the advantages that brings (such as actual working app+data backups, limiting max battery charge, better automation possibilities with apps like Tasker, etc)
I’d much rather switch banks than give up rooting my phone.
Genshin Impact just released a new version that for most of the world became playable on Jan 1, but where I live it started several hours before the end of Dec 31.
So that.
