Oh no :(. I hope this doesn’t mean some BS with new games and having them be PS6,7,8 exclusive until they come to PC.

No, sony, having titles exclusive to your Sony branded PC won’t make me buy a Sony branded PC when I’ve already got a PC.

The high seas for a PlayStation 6 exclusive release? First, might be a while before piracy on a new console is a viable option, second, an emulator won’t be able to run it for years.

Oh please no. I’m not going to buy an overpriced console just to play their future games.

And they’ll have a locked ecosystem with bullshit exclusives

Wasn’t cyberpunk 2077 hammered pretty hard with this too though? I don’t remember doom eternal being riddled with bugs when it came out.

This is exactly my point. You especially won’t notice when you’re actually focusing on the gameplay, IMO.

Yeah, also does anyone else remember when the best video card was like 600 bucks? I never did buy one of those. And I’m not buying the top end cards at 3k or whatever they are. I built my whole last computer for less than that.

What blew my mind was how I heard Titanfall 2 uses the source engine. That game looked really good. I did only play it on the steam deck though, so my resolution and screen size weren’t crazy.

That’s fair. I did watch a video comparing them, and what stuck with me was how they mention how good we got at faking lighting and making it so convincing that the reflections are real, it’s hard to sometimes tell the difference. For me on a 2070s with 3440x1440 resolution, it’s not worth it at all.

That’s the first game I tried. Looks great, when it comes to a room and playing I find those details skip my brain and prefer smooth 144Hz instead

I find when I play, if I’m not looking around focusing on the graphics (like playing the game) I don’t notice it. Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440x1440 with ray tracing on makes me get like 24FPS. Without it, I can get above 60.

Am I the only one that doesn’t really give a shit about ray tracing? For mediocre gains, you get a punch in the face on performance. I’ll take 144Hz on a game over ray tracing any day.

Need but how is that controller layout supposed to work well for N64? Definitely not ideal. Not enough buttons.

Sometimes they’re not on gog and I want to play them. Other times it’s 4$ on steam and 50$ on gog. I’ll buy it for 4 on steam so I can play it, then wait for the sale on gog down the road. Sometimes it’s a convenience thing cause I have a steam deck and it’s just nice to deal with native compatibility.

This is also why I often buy games on gog that I already “own” on steam.

Probably why I own this game on 3 different platforms now lol

The steam deck is also amazing, such a nice piece of hardware. I’ve been gaming on Linux for years and I’m surprised how well it works. Feels like a console.

It unknowingly interferes with my security or privacy, 100%. It has root access. What’s it doing in there? Nowadays you’re naive to think it’s just to prevent game cheating. I guarantee they’re collecting all kinds of information.

I kind of assumed it would be packaged with each game, a waste of space (but how big could it be?) but leaving a game with anti cheat a global dependency seems like a bad idea.

Lots of games with anti cheat auto work under wine/proton. The most on top of my head example is Elden ring. Runs fine on my desktop with arch, as well as my steam deck.

Heroes of might and magic 3, but I feel like it might not have the same appeal if it did happen. Happy to be proven wrong, of course 🙂

Overload exists. While not a remake, it is the spiritual successor with the original development team making it.

This reminds me of when I had a PS3 and I used to run Linux on it.

It still blows my mind that it’s not illegal to sell a consumer something, then remove functionality after they’ve got your money.

Good ol’ corporate bait and switch.

I know it is… Fun fact, my desktop is also running Arch Linux btw :P

Yes I know it is, lil bro/sis. I’m more referring to how I can stream my higher end games from my PC to this PC.

I still remember hanging out in a few of them around this time of year when stuff was decked out Halloween themed. Never did beat the expansions. Crazy how little detail the game seems to have by today’s standards 🤣

Recovered my account a couple years ago with support and providing my og serials. Can’t believe it worked but it punched me in the face nostalgia-wise when I got into it.

I think the last one I played was immortals Phoenix rising on the switch. How much it forces you to try and get online and create an account for a single player game is ridiculous. I found out if you launch the game in airplane mode you can skip it, then disable airplane mode after. So stupid.

To be fair, it’s just because windows is the most used and common desktop operating system and the two OSs are different. People would be confused about windows too if the tables were turned.
