For me, definitely older and indie (old and new). I don’t get a lot of time these days to sit at my PC. Using my steam deck primarily these days is part of the reason I’m playing older games, but seriously I have a problem with steam/gog/name a storefront/ backlogs. I have so many games already, great time to review what I bought because of hype but never played.
Never played it, but this type of game is up my alley. For what it’s worth:
What would make me happy is a way smoother experience with game streaming. With moonlight/sunshine I’ve found it works incredibly well - when it does. I always ran into issues with resolution setting, windows lock screen, power on power off etc. I mean, I’m sure I could figure it out over time but I’m way to lazy, I don’t have time to tinker with that. I just want it to work.
If I could sit on my couch and have a cool and quiet steam deck streaming off my PC in the other room, that would be sweet.
While RT made my 2070s cry in cyberpunk, the difference was way less noticeable than the difference in FPS. I dunno, IMO when you watch some slowed down video or take your time inspecting things, you can tell a bit. But when you’re driving a car and shooting foes you can’t even tell. IMO, not worth $2,000 to improve my ray tracing to not even 144 FPS.
“the best of all worlds” eh, I dunno. There’s no mention of Linux desktop use on here. I have so many custom games and stuff on mine, how much of a pain with it be to do on this thing? I sometimes make quick tweaks and using the steamdeck shortcuts to use the keyboard and the trackpads just make that so easy compared to something with only joysticks. Also looks to have less buttons overall. I’m not convinced.
I loved my switch. I spent a lot of time with it. But since getting the steam deck… All the things I can do with it, and the cheap games, and even the high end games that I can play, it’s just too good. I beat hollow knight on my PC. I bought a switch after that, bought hollow knight collectors and never played it. Was fully planning on buying silk song on the switch but now I think I’ll go for the steam version.
