Hush. That’s like saying everyone on lemmy uses Debian or arch.

Oh. Wait.

That’s so cute! I work with an OS release from 2002. Like, the OS has been around, and we’re just working with Major Version 10, until it life-cycles out at age 27, when we’re on just v11 (11.4 today).

Maybe there’ll be a v12, maybe it’s not for another 27 years and I’ll be dead. Who knows?

Battery sharing - Turning the phone into a wireless charger for other phones, including iPhones.

My S10 has it. It’s not even an s10+ but a regular S10.

Dude. Don’t text and drive.

If you must, try to pull over and proof-read before hitting that send button.

Those dot character on your keyboard. Yep, those are the ones.

My favourite colour is blue.

That’s kinda this question.

Both sides?

If we want to talk mercenary companies, though, apple is pretty high on the FuckYouBuyMore scale.

Clowd was never cheap; it was versatile, and it still is.

Just, please, get over this ‘cheap’ fallacy. It’s expensive as shit, either in direct costs or the labour required to min-max for savings. If you’re not regularly bulldozing a massive portion of your stuff or running in two regions for resilience, then you should just look at another idea – and Don’t say Azure, as there’s a reason we call that cheap hot-garbage ‘unsure’.

  1. Fucken is short for fuckeng, right?

  2. Huawei paid good money to the people who stole that tech from Canada.

Too late. Finally killed appleTV as its web interface for non-apple browsers was a comedy of logins and emailed codes and bad UI and frustration.

Actually killing my service was such a nightmare of circular web pages that I needed to take a timeout for sanity and then come back to it.

Never again.

Happy countries who bear the cost of their peoples’ dental care out of a common bucket will potentially be happy with a way to invest in the future of peoples’ mouths and prevent all the ancillary costs that follow bad oral health.

Thank you for not jamming the ‘open’ and ‘source’ together like a schmuck.

I’ve been dealing with a VPN failure at work.

About 80% of my day has been lost due to access issues into the secure space I work, since about 6 days back.

wireless charging is not supported

This is 2024, right? Heckling aside, I’ll look for the next release.

And, to be that guy,

outputting

You can be that guy a little harder. It’s okay.

costed

Particples are hard.

My Fold 4 cracked…

Yeah. Ya think?

Really, I’m amazed when the folding-screen phones don’t crack; it’s like they’ve broken a fundamental law or something by continuing to exist intact.

Motorola

Depending on where you are, a Chinese lenovoPhone carries a lot of fearful connotations.

I think that model is still being sold for like us$50, or the same price it’s been for a decade

The hardware has definitely outlasted any love from the os.

FYI essentially all adapters with a usb-c female connector are non-compliant.

Can we take the word of a random internet stranger without even SOME context or explanation?

I’ve been in this guy’s shoes.

I used to code a particular project that was somewhat popular in its own little niche. Some guy trying to make a name for himself must have gone through the docs and done everything it said not to; then reports that in such a case, it’s insecure.

The other project members and I basically said “well stop doing everything it says not to”. But Jerome makes a web page about it; generates a lot of buzz. We amended our docs to restate that if you do all the dumb things, you’ll look dumb. And we linked to his page.

Not proud, but we had bigger fish to fry.

That’s what I’m writing on that this very minute. It’s a refurb replacement for the S10 I killed a year ago.

Yeah. It’s not like Russia isn’t into dicking up Ukraine.

Russia doesn’t want ukraine or its people: Russia just wants what it probably calls ‘western Russian’ Farmland; and some poor people to work it.

Secret real benefit discovered!

When my phone dies it will be hard to pick a replacement. The 3.5mm jack is a core feature.

the guy’s neither, of course. It’s a valid opinion, well-described.

I completely disagree with him, but his point has obviously been considered over the course of a long career actually repairing gear.

Yep, I use it every day.

That doesn’t change the fact that Mozilla gave up on its flagship.

As a twin I bet I can guess where those 3% failures are.

Where’s the “Did MSFT sharepoint just go down again today” posting space?
Look. It happens a few times a week, where reps in 3 time-zones will be fucked by an interruption to azure services like o341 or sharepoint (we don't do VMs in azure; not secure enough). I'm used to shadenfreuding Reddit over that, or at least finding it's not just our company firewall and VPN taking the Proverbial. Is there a sub I can join to get the topical junk like that? I'm too indolent - like a fox! - to go to twitter (or ideally mastodon) for a more suitable location; but will I find it there if I do? Can it be here too?
fedilink

This sounds so cheesy I’m already anticipating the really bad text-to-speech voiceover.

Maybe it’ll start maintaining Mozilla again. You know: its namesake project.

What part of the legislation requires small batteries like AAs?

If the unit has a LIon battery, make it slide out like UPS batteries do. Make it a custom shape if you hate people, or make it a common hi-density cell if you aren’t apple.
