I love this wild west phase of the Fediverse! Feels like the good ole days of the Internet. Onwards!

That is actually an excellent point! I’m imagining a Lydia from Skyrim who would actually comment on your actual quest progression without just resorting to canned responses.

While I’m sure there will be a lot of false starts with this tech and it will take a while to iron out the kinks, I’ve been waiting for something like this for a long time. This will probably be similar to the switch from small, limited world maps in games to expansive open-worlds. It’s going to be a massive boost to immersion and will probably lead to some hilarious bugs/unexpected behaviours. Can’t wait!

Yeah, that’s a fair concern. I wish somebody would create a custom ROM you could replace the Meta shit with or something

I was in the same boat as you. I ended up getting the Quest 3, because frankly, it’s one of the best headsets on the market right now. While Meta still tries it’s best to vacuum my data, I’ve disabled as many data sharing options as I can find.

I do most of my VR gaming on PCVR through Steam Link, which is outstanding. If you have a PC and a good WiFi 6 router, you can avoid the Meta marketplace for the most part by buying PCVR games on Steam directly. That way Meta doesn’t get as much data out of you.

I was never particularly into the cyberpunk genre, so I was largely immune to the Cyberpunk 2077 hype, and subsequent disappointment and anger. I’d seen tons of videos of trailers and gameplay, and never really expected to play the game myself.

I built a beast of a new PC a few days ago and picked up CP2077 on sale to put it through its paces. I loaded up Cyberpunk and my jaw was on the floor. This is the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen! The gameplay feels smooth and satisfying and I’m really engrossed in the lore and environment. Of course, I’m playing the 2.1 patched version of the game, so I don’t know what the experience at launch would have been like. Regardless, so far it’s felt like an incredible game!

I’m looking to get a 4090 this black Friday, and even with these refreshes, doesn’t seem like my purchasing decision would really be affected, unless they’re also refreshing the 4090.

Yeah, the games have been stale for a while. I really enjoy the gameplay, especially the liberation mechanics so I got elthe new games even though they just seem like copies.

On the other hand, each new game does look gorgeous, so there’s that.

Edit: wow, didn’t expect that image embed to be so huge lol

Hoping that they bring back some of the Far Cry magic instead of just making another copy-paste sequel 🤞

GIMME THE INDEX 2! GIMME GIMME GIMME…

Fair enough. I was also a lot more hyped playing TD1, so that might have played a part too.

Yeah, but those were the NPCs in bases, etc. I meant just random people out on the street, I think there were none or fewer

I also never understood why they removed most of the NPCs. I loved seeing all the random city people around, help the odd one out and have some of them get aggressive. TD2’s city felt pretty dead in comparison.

Hope they can make it as immersive as TD1. TD2 was kinda disappointing.

The examples are really good! While not perfect, in really happy that thale model is not completely ignoring large parts of the prompt like most image generation models do.

Yeah. Hope they release it soon though, the new maps look sick!

Excellent tip! Pretty stoked to discover how many modern web annoyances can be defeated by OSS!

Looks interesting, but was a little too complex of a setup for me to figure out. This requires the installation of other 3rd party apks, and the documentation is pretty sparse about how to set them up. There’s also not many screenshots or a guide to quickly help figure out the value proposition.

I might take a look later in time when the app and ecosystem are better established!

Submission statements were amazing on many subreddits! I would love to see them on Lemmy.

You’re not wrong. Perhaps the way we think of memory, etc is too rooted in our biology, and machine intelligence will continue to surprise us with powerful capabilities from seemingly simple structure.

It’s probably just added to its system message, which feels a bit bolted on. I wish we had a really competent personal assistant (assuming you could keep your privacy, which seems unlikely in this day and age), which learned about you and your preferences over time. Something with actual long term memory and the ability to be fine tuned by user input.
