Sounds like avocado toast-ian blame-shifting to me. Just like the rest of these pieces, they ignore the obvious, horrible conditions of life, and choose to tut-tut at the abused for ‘improperly’ using their free time.

just like the avocado toast shit, the translation of these pieces is broadly:

Look away, reader, from the terrible low wages, high cost of living, and soul-crushing work hours japanese people are forced to endure. Focus your attention on these 19% of young people, who don’t know any better, who you are better than. Laugh at these losers who admit that one time they almost couldn’t cover their expenses!!

Let’s look at the article.

Interestingly enough, while these results indicate that the popularity of in-game transactions may be increasing, the average amount of money spent on them is actually decreasing.

Hmm, could it be the actual problem is the immense increases to CoL young (and all) people have been under? I wonder why the article doesn’t even bring it up? So curious 🤔

Oh well. So like, how much money are we talking about on gacha? How much are these 19% of young folks spending? Must be a ton eh?

Article doesn’t say, but we do get these numbers

In 2024, young people spent an average of around 5,138 yen ($35.85 USD) on microtransactions per month while this year’s survey results state that the average amount of money spent on microtransactions is 4,247 yen ($29.63 USD) per month.

So it’s not a lot, not really. I say again, this article is slop created to take your eyes away from the real problems of the world and victim blame the ones suffering under them.

Eh, the argument was never civil. I don’t like the whole schtick of “showing immense disrespect buuut not actually name-calling” i see so many lowbrow edgelords employ. That sulky teen shit makes me maldy as all get out. I get there’s gotta be lines somewhere an i crossed em, but i gots to call a spade by its name.

Anyway have a great morning

It ain’t an mmo, and it never should have been built like this.

It kind of was and it was intended to work as it did by the company that made it.

Adults don’t dance around semantics in debate when they’re called out. I told you to stand up and this is your response? Mebbe you’re not even hidin! Maybe it’s the only way you can talk?

I guess you disagree, but I find your speech pattern embarrassing and tiring.

Be better eh? For me

It was deliberate choice by them to make even the single player campaign online homie. It ain’t an mmo, and it never should have been built like this.

Don’t even play like that wasnt fucked up, ok? If your actual argument is “i think companies should get to do what they want” them say that, with your whole chest, not this Weak socratic-method-bootlick-bull…

Take that stand and defend it. Or you could also stfu

I get your point but DN4 was also a joke after release. Which may also be your point lol

I dunno if everyone knew lol, buut all joking aside? I agree with you. it’s only a grift/scam if one doesn’t feel good about the money and time spent. Also anyone throwing $$ in nowadays better be doing it with open eyes like yours or they’re fools

I hate Nintendo exclusives because i hate Nintendos hardware. I do love their software, so i emulate it.

I get why they need exclusives, if they want to keep making consoles instead of turning into SEGA they need to give peeps a reason to buy their console, which since the wii (?) has had a deliberate focus on less powerful hardware. If they didn’t have those N exclusives those games would look better on their competitor’s systems.

Like i said, i love their games, can’t stress that enough. I hate, hate, HATE their hardware tho. I’ve refused to buy Nintendo stuff since i felt burned by n64s crap analog sticks (i hold a mean grudge haha) and the only way Nintendo would get my hard fought-stretched-to-hell $ is if they sold pc copies of their games.

I wish they’d consider doing that (after a few years of exclusivity even, i’m a patientgamer) but i don’t think they ever will :(

“here’s 5 bucks, get yourself something to eat ok?”

Now sometimes, they’ll engage you directly, but don’t worry folks! Just keep moving if that happens, and hope things get better. It’s not like you can really do anything for them.

Oh lord someone get this chud out of the thread! And fer fucks sake y’all never ask chuds a got damn thing. Cuz they’ll tell you, and it will be the dumbest shit you read today

Bad take. You started from the assumption that normal people care about this shit. They categorically do not.

Watch cowboys video that /u/[email protected] posted in this thread. He explains far better than i can that if there’s a grift, it’s from the people who make money manufacturing outrage.

PS i never knew cowboy was fucking jacked holy shit lol

“Mark of the ninja” low sysreq sidescrolling stealth game, multiple routes/playstyles. lots of fun, should be cheap too

I’m gonna be that other guy

“Viral game mouthwashing” and author didn’t say “cleaning up” on steam… Damnit it was right there maaaaannn…!

Oh dear are you in for a ride haha enjoy it, and do come back when you’ve finished and tell me what you think of the ending

Eh we all do it sometimes ha. Tbf it was your question that got me curious enough to look instead of just cruisin on so thanks i learned too

From the article:

The war on the Charlie server resulted in a stalemate where neither side was getting closer to winning, both had maxed out their technology, and all players were stuck in an end-game loop of manufacturing, delivering, and fighting with little to show for it.

“The main reason is to ensure that new players that have joined Charlie in the last month get the chance to experience a war as it’s meant to be played, progressing through early, mid, and late phases of the tech tree,”

-statement by the developer.

Turns out simply releasing the statement was enough to end the war as the upcoming change got players to commit to a big war push and win the game before the change went thru.

Sniper Elite lol! Love that damn game. Someone out there had the job programmin nazi-nutsacks, and they took their job serious. Such loving attention to destructive detail. i never once got tired of explodin them in slow motion from 500 yards. What a hero

And here i haven’t bought a EA game since they ruined football games back in the 90s. I’m startin to think this whole ‘vote with your wallet’ thing might not work after all

I’m burning with desire to know what candle assistant pays and what other duties they have

Yeah, i don’t shame setups but I’ll make an exception for an exceptional specimen. I’d shame that punk for breathin’ wrong. Example: He’s definitely using more a’ my air than i’d like. I don’t hold much hope but i do hold some; that i live to see him get all he deserves.

I actually heard Freeman in there excepting the cussin’ which I’m a fan of and use often but doesn’t lend itself to his voice imo. Still awesome tho

Yarp im not really arguing witcha, ops argument was different than mine anyhow. What will i do? Everything in my power (nothing). I’ll continue ta complain mightily about their unfair market control and price fixin’ simply cuz it feels good to vent

From experience you’d definitely notice and would have a hard time going back. My windows settings had restricted my fps to 30 on my mmo and i didn’t know but when i fixed it and had 60 the difference was huge. Took a week to get used to.

Got my wife a 144hz screen and i can see the difference between my 60 and hers but it’s not as huge.

I don’t blame them for poorly optimized games but i do blame GPU manufacturers for all the little things they do to inflate their prices.

I thought we Internet rabble had decreed “no mans sky is good now”. Am i behind the times? Do i need go find my pitchfork?

Worth noting it’s 1st only in gross profits, 5th in copies sold. 1st place in that regard is still GT3 A-spec. The article mentions increases in price per unit is why its the highest grossing

Eh, i couldn’t tell you like, what ⅒ of those currencies were, but if I’m not mistaken those “currencies” author is talking about are really more like xp unlocks for specific gear. PvP/PvE gear have their own stats and tiers and “currency” cuz before this was implemented, it was tough for beginners to get geared up for tougher dungeons (no one wants to run a PUG for an hour or 2 and get nothing) and back then top-geared PvE guilds could roll dedicated PvP groups with their PvE purples.

It’s not really a problem I’ve heard players complain about

Thanks for the info, appreciated. Considering the widespread love for fromsoft style visual storytelling I wonder why that was even done. Cost cutting/time savings maybe?

The joke is i don’t think any “future pcs” can run crysis now since it’s not compatible with new windows versions iirc. I got a cobwebbed copy i can’t play in my steam library rn

If i count all the media I’ve consumed in the last 8-9 years as savings, piracy has paid the price of my 1000$ entertainment console PC so, so many times over.

Man i was just told pc gaming would be dead in 5 years
