Another day another corporate hit piece to take down valve. They aren’t going anywhere. They’re a private company with no plans on going public ever. From what I hear, the company leadership will transfer to the lead engineer who shares the same visions as Gabe. Why would you want a personal money printer in your pocket to go public and then just get absolutely raped by some investor pieces of sshit when you have one of the highest profit to employee ratios in the entire industry. It makes absolutely no sense to strangle this Golden goose even for the greediest of people.
I swear to God the news is just fucking awful these days just paid hit pieces to spread whatever view some rich guy wants. This is all because valve won’t bend the knee and is disrupting industries and poising to dethrone Microsoft right now in the OS space and they’ve also branched into hardware. Other companies are threatened by them.

Nah you’re right. It’s overrated. It shaked the Zelda formula up and that’s all that people see in it. It has a ton of fun details in the world sure but let’s be honest BOTW has like 8 different enemies you will fight over and over. The shrines aren’t even a challenge after the first third of the game since you know the ins and outs of your abilities. Your abilities are all gained right at the start too and there’s no cool loot other than another bow or a random melee weapon.
The open world nature kills so much of the story pacing and cinematic elements we have come to expect from the series. Then there’s the whole no real dungeons thing. a Zelda dungeon used to be an all day affair. Took you hours with a challenging unique boss fight at the end. The beasts we got and the copy pasted phantom ganons were so lame.
I honestly feel like they serious took a dramatic dip in theming and focus with BOTW. It took a dramatic leap forward in innovation for the series but it really doesn’t feel like a legend of Zelda game anymore.
Tears of the kingdom is just The Legend of Zelda Nuts and Bolts. Change my mind

Dude I’m trans and hate the acolyte. It’s cause it’s shit not “woke”
There’s plenty of “non woke” media that’s shit too
Turns out if you write nothing but shit you get nothing but shit. This is a capitalism putting restrictions on the artist not our society.
It’s happened time and time again they force trends and focus tested ideas into the writing room instead of true passion. It will happen no matter the context. Shit media will just be shit media regardless of “wokeness” that’s just a current symptom of how we create media. It’s all for profit not for the sake of art.
That’s what you actually hate dude.

You’re right. The witcher 3 never grabbed me because of these reasons. It’s got such phenomenal quests and storytelling but in between feels like a chore since im just staring at the minimap the whole time. I installed mods to remove HUD elements to help fix it but I still needed a toggle for them to show me direction occasionally since the games design relies on those HUD elements to drive the player.
It’s such lazy design in an otherwise rich experience. It boggles my mind.
I hate AI with a passion. A burning passion. And there is some muddied reporting and stuff with how the Clair Obscure team handled the use of AI but ultimately it does look to be an innocent use.
It does start a slippery slope argument, but I don’t see much wrong with using AI generated textures or models if they are truly truly 100% meant to be replaced by the product ship date. There are many video games that start out with stolen ripped assets as placeholders because it’s a whole lot easier to throw in completed assets that work right now so you can get to your iterative phase of game development a lot sooner.
During game development, there is a lot of wasted effort you need to try to avoid. A game is not fully complete when it is planned out. When you start video game development, you don’t know where you’re going to end. If you do not approach the iterative process of game design carefully, you will end up wasting tons of effort and artist time just for things and features and levels that will never see the final release.
Tldr; I don’t see a big problem with using AI as placeholders but you better fucking be honest about it and they better actually be placeholders
