I mean, factoring in advertising costs and shit, especially with a huge advertising push, could make that total number rise dramatically. And when you actually have the government pumping you full of money, you find ways to spend it. When other games end up asking themselves if they can afford to ____ because the timeline is _____, this kind of production gets to say, “do it. Hire more people.” And it doesn’t have to involve crunch.
They’re the only games I enjoy. And I could’ve sworn I’ve seen people all over the internet lamenting the loss of story-driven single player games in this era of GTA online. These douchebags are either salivating looking at GTA online profitability and talking bullshit or they’re so goddamn deluded with their head so far up their own ass that they can’t tell their colon from their pancreas.
On the topic, anyway: my favorite games are RDR2, Cyberpunk, and Alan Wake 2. I wasn’t always a gamer, but the graphics have gotten so good and the stories so involved (in these here specifically) that I became one later in life. But now I’ve played all three of those games to death. Do you have any recs for similar games I might enjoy? I was just looking around the PS store and felt like I was swimming through nonsense. I really wanted to play Stalker 2, but it’s not out for PS5 yet. The next game I’m eyeing is a silent Hill 2 remake. Not a big fantasy person, either. I like stories with their feet in the real world. Don’t mean to single you out to give me advice, but figured I’d ask in case you had something you really liked.
Is this the most recent Kingdom Come 2? I’d been thinking of getting it myself, I play great stories over and over (RDR2, Cyberpunk, Alan Wake 2). But I’ve literally played them all so much that I’m about to be tired of replaying them. So I need a new game to 100% complete, this and STALKER2 have been on my list, but S2 hasn’t been released for ps5.

For those of us that don’t speak swedish
It’s looking a little like when preem-tier Barca under pep signed fabregas. An excellent player—one of the best in the world at the time, joining the other bests, but there was no real position for him. Xavi, iniesta, Busquets, already comprised the most stacked midfield ever. But they tried to squeeze him in because the Barca president insisted on bringing him in, so he was just superfluous to the system and was just a wrench in the gears.
Ah, see, I love the game. I’ve been replaying it, actually. I think the endings, yeah, they’re all pretty sad. Even the one ending where
You actually get the cure, it’s a massive, massive bummer. Life moves on without V, and they are stuck. They try to go back to their life, and they realized it’s all gone when they got what they were trying for the whole time. Every ending but one is genuinely sad.
And that’s super duper rare, it feels like. I truly appreciate that everything was a gut punch. I really like my V, and when I’ve replayed it I make them the same way (looks-wise, I have made different builds). The male voice actor was not for me. I think he sounded like a douchebag and I couldn’t root for my own character. And that first play through I was honestly a little disappointed with the game. But when I found “my” V, I was much more invested.
I love the difficult choices they saddle you with. It was a big part of the game for me because they really made you feel like there were no right options, or two right options, and you weren’t just choosing black or white, you were choosing moral grayness or moral grayness. And you had to sit with those choices and, as OP pointed out, watch the consequences unfold for the—I feel, very well-written and acted—NPCs.
I really love the game. It and RDR2 are my favorites. I was never a gamer growing up. In my thirties I started playing games, but I am a huge story person—books, movies, tv shows—and I think the stories and the characters made it. So when I found games that let me really get a sense of these characters, even if there is a lot of dialogue, it’s like I’m playing a really long movie. That’s ideal for me. I could see how some people who game heavily wouldn’t like it though. But I fuckin love that game and its spiritual twin (IMO), RDR2. Both maybe “limited” for true gamers, but for some filthy cazh like me, fuckin excellent and highly enjoyable.
This whole DLC was…top notch. The choices are agonizing—especially after you make the choices you feel you should make and then go back through to make the choices you felt you wouldn’t make just to get to this branch of the story…and then AGAIN to make the choices you couldn’t bring yourself to make. And your rewards are fucking torturous.
That’s fuckin stellar gameplay experience right there. I’m still replaying this game because it’s so fuckin good.
I mean, I get it. But I probably would. You’re talking millions and millions of euros PER YEAR. I say this as not a millionaire, but that’s the kind of money that you can be fine with for the rest of your life. Not to mention he’s a more habdsome, multi lingual footballer, so he could easily retire into a life of leisure making appearances, commentating, etc.
And we’re not talking about lowering from 27.7M to 100,000. We’re talking, like, worst case scenario wiping away bonuses and living of NINE MILLION a year.
These are multimillionaires. And we’re talking like they can’t be slightly less super wealthy? Cmon.
Well, the 2023/24 season, with bonuses and fixed salary, the reported figure is €27.7M. That’s a ton of money. The last president of the club was signing outrageous contracts, basically putting the club in the financial straits they’re in now. And during this time of absurd contracts/wages, La Liga was basically folding their hands saying go ahead. But now, with a new president, the wages have been slashed across the board, but Frankie is still on his old contract. And with Covid, there were deferments with payment, so that boosts the numbers a little.
All in all, Tebas is a piece of shit, but the last train wreck of a president basically walked hand in hand with tebas, destroying the club. Now that they’re trying to be financially responsible and wipe away the issues, La Liga keeps setting lower and lower thresholds for Barca to meet, while other clubs aren’t getting nearly as low of windows. It’s a shit show. It’s not Frankie’s fault, it’s largely Bartomeu’s fault, but Tebas is also gleefully holding down the club as much as possible. In the midst of all this, it’s nice to see the team turning things around finally. But I also say that as a fan. De jong is under no obligation to reduce his wages. But…it’s also like…the other years of massive amounts of money weren’t enough? And he’s been out injured for months. Eh. It’s just crazy the financial situation at Barca. Again, largely falling on the shoulders of bartomeu. Other players stepped in to help. Frankie didn’t. Those are just facts.
So RDR2O is good? I love RDR2, and I’ve played the campaign to death. But I tried online and found it…meh. Maybe I didn’t invest in it and I was looking for a more cohesive story or maybe a helping hand in getting my toes wet, but it just felt like there was nothing novel or interesting to do. I’m sure playing with someone makes it a lot more fun. I was really looking for more of the campaign. That’s not what it is.
