Recently finished that game as an Azata and transcended. The story is great and the mythic paths are really quite fun, but I found combat to be a slog on the higher difficulties. Ended up turning it down to normal (from core) in act 4 due to the sheer amount of fights that take ages. The Defender’s Heart battle took me almost 2 hours! I get they want to make it feel grand, but it just slowed it down too much. For any new players, I recommend picking a lower difficulty, and use liberal use of real time for easy fights, of which there are far too many. You also need some resilience against bugs, as there are many. Only a few are game breaking, but most are really annoying and cause you to lose actions or items or something. Despite all this criticism, behind all that is a great game and I do recommend it to crpg fans, especially if they like pf1e (which I hadn’t played at the time).
Children of a Dead Earth is a tactical space game with n-body Newtonian physics. This means that on the surface it is very similar to something like KSP, you can do things like orbit a Lagrange point. In addition, you can design all the parts of you spacecraft and weaponry down to the materials they use. If you can make a fuel tank made out of aerogel work with the laws of physics, then you can use it. For example, I made a coilgun that fires nukes which was devastating at close range but the low velocity of the nukes made them easy to dodge at long range and without any thrusters, they cannot course correct.
Look more at the arcana packs. You can get some insane setups. One of my favourites is doing 5 of a kind, which is kicked off by taking the spectral card that turns your hand into all one rank. There’s also scaling builds, eg I used supernova to boost high card into the roof which was fun. The best part about boosting low value hands is that it is consistent, so you don’t need to worry about rng screwing you over.
Godot 4 drastically improved the capabilities of godot, especially in the 3d realm. It isn’t perfect, but I would say it is about on par with unity in terms of features. Note that some of the more advanced stuff are in modules that you need go download within the editor. This was done to keep the core light while not sacrificing features.
When “soon” comes, take a look at Godot. You won’t be screwed by them because it is FLOSS. Have fun!

I just couldn’t get into Last Epoch. Can’t really put a finger on why, since other ARPGs grabbed me that are not that dissimilar…
