Heard this two generations straight already.
Maybe PCs. IF Microsoft brings out a cheap and form factor PC instead of a Xbox whatever they call it. And that’d be a good thing. Besides, a Xbox Series X and a PC is about the same thing except less configuration on the console, and that’s fine… Microsoft still makes games, they just bring it to PC as well as their console. We should applaud that.
But no, Consoles and PCs will be in gaming as long as people buy millions of them, and the good news is they don’t buy millions, they buy HUNDREDS of millions.
And Gen Z continue to buy them too. Because GenZ is 22-38. I hate the phrase but I feel like “OK Boomer” is actually appropriate here.
“I’ve done it too many times to repeat it again” Really?
Isn’t that kind of beneath you? That’s the type of shit someone would say on a playground.
Besides which the full complaint doesn’t appear to be available anywhere, but what has been shown has not said what you’re claiming.
However other people might have more knowledge about this situation than you seem to, besides which other pieces that have been revealed since the original complaint have shown it’s not just about the ability to circumvention technology. So you know… maybe read more, or stop acting like you have all the answers when you don’t?
On the other hand consider if it was exactly what you say it is, why isn’t Cemu and Ryujinx getting their own version of the note… hint: it’s not just about the circumvention…
I bought a Alienware Alpha for around 500 bucks, it was a great investment and lasted me a decent amount of time.
Kind of sad that idea and the idea of a steambox died because it made it possible to have a great experience on a budge. STill my 1000 dollar computer is holding up after 8 years or so, I feel like people overvalue FPS performance to the point they over spend on PC hardware.
This appears incorrect. Multiple emulators have ways to circumvent the copyright protection mechanism. None of them are being hit. Dolphin legit has the keys in their package. It’s why Steam didn’t platform them, but Nintendo knows and Dolphin is not changing. It would be literally the cost of the letter to get Dolphin to change. Nintendo hasn’t even sent that letter.
What Yuzu did wrong was outside of “anti circumvention rules” that you seem afraid of.
Ehhh… it’s ok if there’s money involved but they definitely pushed it too far. However even if there was no money involved Yuzu made actions that shut them down.
Smart if you can self fund, but at the end of the day there’s a lot of costs that people ignore when it comes to emulation or things in the space. Working with a group called Retroachievements.org (small plug) and they accept donations for server costs but that’s it. Signed up for 1 dollar on Patreon and wanted to give them 10. They refused, which is a good sign.
I’m not even saying “Xbox is dead” I’m saying “Xbox won’t run a unique OS”. Even if there is a “Xbox approved version” it’s just a game optimized for the specific hardware that the Xbox console will have (and maybe ship with a somewhat specialized container too). I doubt you’ll see Steam on this hypothetical system, but it’s still possible.
Honestly… they don’t. I think Microsoft will eventually go to a PC pre-built with a OS on it. “But isn’t that a Console?” I mean I had an alpha, On my alpha I had a versions of windows that immediately booted into the Alpha program for ease of use. I stopped the alpha program and my wife uses it as a work computer (a weak one so she can pull up documents).
I don’t see a future where Microsoft makes a different OS than Windows, makes a hardware setup that isn’t off the shelve parts. MAYBE a specialized motherboard with a chip set. But ultimately, I think IF they make a “Console” it’s going to be a Windows machine with set specs that don’t change, and an OS that is just for gaming, maybe with some way to dockerize the software so you always get the same experience every time you run it.
Sony and Nintendo will keep making Consoles, for sure, but Microsoft has no benefit in making a console. And before someone says what I described is a console, Xbox can’t play PC games, what I’m describing is a windows machine playing windows software. When you make Xbox software currently you make software that ONLY can run on an Xbox… but why? You already are making a Windows build so you can ship a Windows version, so why not only make the windows version and have your console just be a windows machine in an OS that will giver players a consistent experience.
Oooh ooh, I remember this game.
I just can’t remember exactly. I did find http://c64clicker.com/ which is an old one (And a good one) There was a great game called Pixel This or Pixel That like that where you drew art, but apparently it’s been lost to time (source code might be out there, but doesn’t seem hosted)
Hope that helped, and if you find it, let me know because I remember it was a solid game.
More like "We don’t want to say it was only that game… "
Though actually with it a year later, I would say their follow up effort wasn’t amazing them… which makes more sense. They probably were going through Pre-prod on “saints row too” or what ever it was going to be. And Embracer didn’t want to continue.
I wonder if this is just a Hail Mary to try to stop the fear that the merger will make Microsoft the most dominant face in streaming.
Even if it’s agreed upon, it just means in two generations once internet speeds reach where they need to be for streaming to be feasible, Microsoft will get those rights back. Streaming means next to nothing today, but the fear is in a couple generations, that’s going to be the future of gaming, especially seeing how much publishers want to stop gamers from owning anything.
Said none of those companies.
Listen, all those companies suck, but you don’t have to put words in their mouths, everyone seems extremely positive about Baldur’s Gate, and I would say almost all developer aspire to reach the same breadth and depth as Baldur’s Gate 3 with as much polish as they put on it. There’s a long list of reasons why they can’t or don’t (often publishers… or scope creep… but mostly publishers).
Unless there’s a massive thread of shit talking from other developers that I’m missing, but I’m pretty sure that doesn’t exist.
I worked on saints row red faction guerilla and Armageddon and another seven games. Now sit down and learn something about how the world actually works. You know why I can claim I worked on all those games? Because I have actual credits on each one.
And I’m forty, next time you want to act like you know something pay attention. We are talking about the games industry so what I said matter, what you have said was insulting and continues to be so
Grow up kid. One day you’ll realize there’s more than siding with corporations who will use you up
As someone who LOVED the previous two South Park games. This give me no interest.
Can’t really tell exactly what this game is, but it sounds like a brawler, survival game, or just multiplayer focused game.
Not saying it won’t be good, I hope it is, but using Cartman in a wizards robe, made me hopeful for more South Park style RPGs. This feels like it’ll be cheaper (to make). Though I’m sure it’ll find some fans.
Let me know when you create something worth while or assist with that.
You’re speaking like a child who has never seen the real world. I worked in the games industry for 12 years. Trust me getting your name in the credits is a major thing, and being excluded is dehumanizing. It doesn’t matter that there’s worst thing, not getting the credit for your work is absolutely unacceptable, and you sill are somehow trying to defend it.
Gross.
They can put it on their resume but with out their name there’s no proof they did any work. You can now put it on your resume and pretend you did it because no one is named.
It’s done out of fear someone else might know who did their work and someone else might hire them, so by not naming them they weaken the employees chance of getting work elsewhere.
Stop defending this shit, this is a company dehumanizing their employees and your taking the companies side?
You can float any theory or idea why but this is always done for one of two reasons. Either they don’t want to give credit and feel they are afraid they might be poached. Or they don’t value their employees as human beings.
Either way no one should ever work for this company again and all execs need to be named and shamed so they can never get people to work under them again.
Disgusting disgusting disgusting. This is basic human decency.because I can guarantee if they pull this shit they under pay their employees as well
Not bad, Devolver somehow makes me slightly interested in everything they put out. Admittedly I don’t have time for that many new games, but who ever is doing marketing for Devolver has consistently kicked ass. The biggest loss from E3 (other than a way for the press to see the games that normally they’d miss out on all in one place) is Devolver’s Press Conferences, they were always something to look forward to when I would just skip most of them.
Clever way to show off their line up, I’m a bit curious if these games actually slipped or if they were always intended to be 2024 games, and the presented as 2023 delayed.
I really liked the Nexus Line of Google phones and from what I’ve seen the Pixels are great phones, but the price puts them outside of what I want to pay.
The 3a, and the 6a might be the only ones I considered, but the rest are just “Flagship priced phones” and yeah they may have the hardware to back them up, but paying 600+ dollars for a phone is ridiculous. With them reaching for a thousand dollars is a hard no.
You basically hit on it. They’re trying to make them into iPhones… people are on Android specifically because they don’t want Apple prices, or that type of enviroment.
Jesus… if you beat yourself up this much over games, how do you deal with stuff that really matters. Do you moralize over the gas you buy? Do you consider the cable company who gives you the internet connection, when you have only one option? Do you freak out over every single piece of food you purchase, and the supermarket you buy it from, and the television you watch?
Or do you only wax endlessly on video games? Play what you want to, or don’t, but you’re putting way too much thought into this, and if that’s what you want to do, you’ve made your choice, but then perhaps you need to stop buying almost all video games, and read up on crunch, because almost every video game is made at the expense of their employees, and their mental health.
You do you.
As for me, I’ll continue to support companies who I think make a good product, and not avoid stuff like Hogwarts Legacy, or Balder’s Gate, because I realize the majority of the money I spend to pay for those games go to the developers who worked extremely hard to give fans something special. Because you won’t hurt the big companies, but you definitely will destroy the developer and the company that made the game with that attitude.
You’d like to think that, but there’s a lot of people who got into gaming for the wrong reasons (making a lot of money. Fame) and not the right reason (I want to make something awesome that people enjoy).
There are definitely good people in the industry, but there are a number of devs (designers and managers) who only care about the bottom line or money. They’ll think huge profits mean they’ll get massive bonuses, and ignore how the product will be received. It’s not the investors, but involving the wrong people in the process.
Then we see the game and it’s a completely white guy. “What? White guys can come from Africa too”. /s
When I was working in games we had VERY long discussions about using a black main character, and ended up going with another White main character, simply because women and black men do not sell as well as white men. And before you quote a long list of examples that prove that wrong, first realize there’s hundreds of games that fail with both. And many of the success are stuff like Metroid (They hide her face for the entire first game, rarely show her, and is by Nintendo who could make a game about Peaches PMS cycle and it still sells… and did) or Sony (Who has enough money and clout to advertise the fuck out of something like Horizon), or overly sexualized character (Tomb raider’s first titties… sorry Titles)
It’s still likely a wrong assumption but there’s a lot of proof that the race of the main character DOES matter.
I recently started 9… and it’s… Yeah It deserved most of the somewhat negative reviews, but it’s still a DW game. I honestly think they should have called it something like Empires. As an open world game it’s interesting and unique but it is a little too open for “DW”. IT feels like a half step in the wrong direction but if they continued on and made “Dynasty Warriors 10 World” with that system and improved it, it could be something pretty unique. Just not as the main line series.
If you haven’t read Romance of the Three Kingdoms you’re in for a treat, I really enjoyed those books quite a bit, especially after being such a fan of the series. Getting more of the back story is great, and the characters are way more interesting.
Dynasty Warriors, They are my “Dumb fun” game. I usually just turn off my brain and “grind” even though I usually call out every game for grinding or unnecessary combat.
But something about that series makes me pick up every one and waste tens of hours just killing the same-ish soldiers over and over.
You’ve nailed it.
But I do love how you start with the big problem: Microsoft has not bought studio and enhanced them as studios or companies. Look at what Rare has become.
I don’t trust Microsoft owning companies, but I don’t think them buying Activision would be a good thing for anyone but Microsoft. Ultimately Microsoft is only interested in Microsoft and the people supporting the merger to get Activision on Game Pass will turn around and whine when they increase the price after the merger is clear. Everyone on that side is self serving as fuck.
Do you own a PC?
Do you think you’re a gamer?
If the answer is No, and Yes. Then that’s interesting otherwise, it’s nothing new.
I had a Ps4, and A Xbox One. Now I game on PC. Honestly I’m sick of modern games so I mostly retro game, but a PC is a gaming “console” in that respect.
