Anytime I see someone bitching about the writing in Diablo I know they are just looking to be mad.
Diablos writing and story has been garbage and unimportant for 35 years. It’s a slot machine.
Diablo hasn’t changed since D2. It’s just gotten quicker to do hundreds of runs.
Probably a bit harsh in this post, op seems to mean it, but they clearly don’t represent the general audience.
Blah blah blah I’m going to ignore the opinion of half the gamers out there and bitch anyway.
I appreciate DFs technical dives but they don’t understand that micro stutters on the first few loads aren’t what people care about outside of gamer “forums”. See every fromsoft game every made except sekiro.
I do empathize but your mental health isn’t my responsibility. If you don’t wear a seatbelt I didn’t give a fuck. But let’s take your strawman a bit further, video games have been shown to cause agressiness and anti social behavior. Do you support banning them all? What is, in your opinion, where the state should step in to protect people from themselves.
You think fluid motion is just going to make games perform at 120 fps or near that? Especially without artifacting or fidelity? That’s highly optimistic.
Also I’m not sure why you keep on mentioning vrr, it has nothing to do with a 120 hrz screen wasting battery power chasing on paper metrics. Power is still allocated and not dynamic on this device.
I resell and rent games all the time. It’s far far cheaper and you aren’t waiting for sales. You can easily relist software for 90% of its value. I use gamely so I spent $250 and played maybe 40 or so titles not having to wait for sales.
Add in the costs of a PC vs a console and it’s not even close. I save literally thousands of dollars a year.
Every single argument there could be applied to every Amazon, Google, etc.
As a publisher if you do not publish on steam you are review bombed, rage bait is plastered across the internet, and every other comment online is about boycotting.
Oh and there is an easy solution from 15 years ago. Steam killed it. Discs. Or a modern digital representation where you can resell and use the content with a launcher.
I always find it funny when i point out too pcmr that console gaming is far cheaper and easier fairer to the consumer for this reason.
I couldn’t care less for anything made before 2016. It’s all aged horribly. Every time I hear play shadow of the Colossus I vomit in my mouth. Ground breaking at the time, but an otherwise garbage game with okay story in a modern context.
And while not an era I’m going to stay on my soap box. Open world games without strong narrative and massive amounts of backtracking. Every open world game on the planet minus God of war(s), the first hzd (and this was pushing it), rdr2( pushing it), and cyberpunk has way to much shit spread out with little drive to finish narrative. You shouldn’t be backtracking into previous areas or sections in areas without some clever ass level design.
