I support unions, but at this point I’d be terrified to join a new one. Especially when you’re somewhere owned by a large company or private equity firm. There are just no protections for unions anymore, and these days large companies would rather just close down entire departments than give employees basic rights.
I get that the fear and intimidation are the point, but that really doesn’t help. Having a gun pointed in your face is also a form of fear and intimidation, but knowing that doesn’t make it any less dangerous when it happens to you.
I just don’t know what to do anymore, every single thing feels like a losing option while the world just continues to get worse and worse. I’ve scrimped and saved for years to have some sort of nest egg, and its barely more than what more successful people casually spend in a week. I don’t see a way out of this mess.

Mistborn can be live action, I can see it being done well if Sanderson keeps a tight grip on the reigns. None of the effects would be all that difficult to show. Stormlight, on the other hand, 100% needs to be animation. Far too many scenes and effects that just would not translate well to a live action medium.

Dude, it was 2022. AI was nothing back then. Certainly not something that people were debating the morality of at the time. It was a new tool. A developer tried it out for a few very minor assets that were only meant to be placeholders. This was’t “literally removing work from a human(concept artist)”. FFS, it probably was the concept artist who used it!
Like imagine a new type of paint comes out that’s supposed to spread on canvas better. An artist gets some and tries a few test strokes on a blank canvas, goes “huh, interesting”, and then paints over it entirely with traditional paint. Then, the public turns against the new paint. Maybe it’s made from orphan blood, maybe it causes cancer; it doesn’t matter why, but it is now heavily frowned upon to use it. An art studio displaying the original artists work puts out a claim that none of their art uses the new type of paint. Were they lying? Like, ya technically I guess, but if you can’t see the nuance and understand how such a thing could happen, then your logic is less that of a human, and more that of a machine.

They already had the replacement assets created upon release, but forgot to swap them out and it was missed in QA. That’s why, pretty much as soon as they discovered it, they got it all replaced just 5 days after release.
It’s pretty common for games to mistakenly release with minor assets still as placeholders instead of the official version. Who’s really going to look at something like the texture of a rock and be like “Wait just a minute! That’s not the official rock texture!”
The more you learn about this, the more understandable it is. The only people mad are those who don’t know the whole story, or those that are just looking for an excuse to be mad, no matter how dumb the excuse.

You can hate them. You can, personally, dislike their games. But to pretend like The Last of Us doesn’t fall under every definition of a “good game” is just being willfully obtuse.
Like, I don’t personally like racing games, but I’m not going to smugly claim that games like Forza aren’t good. I’d have to really like the smell of my own farts to make that claim.

The only award I think it didn’t deserve was Best RPG.
But, on the other hand, it should have gotten Best Sound Design over BF6; so it still would have gotten 9 awards.
Truly a masterpiece of a game. To those haters saying “But not even BG3 got that many awards!” it’s not a fair comparison. BG3 is a slightly better game IMO, but Expedition 33 is a work of art on top of being an amazing game and appeals to a much wider audience. Which isn’t to say games like BG3 aren’t beautiful, but I think anyone would agree that E33 is on a whole other level.

You know what? I’m ok with that. At a certain point in an RPG, I do not really give a shit if the dialog for Generic Quest Giving NPC #41 has soul behind it or not. Is anyone out there really searching for deep, meaningful writing several hours into a game, or are they just clicking through dialog until they figure out how many buzzard asses they need to gather to complete the quest?

Sophisticated PC gamers: “Graphics aren’t that important. The surge of indie games has shown that fun gameplay is really the only important factor. If big companies really cared, they would spend more time making sure their game was enjoyable to play rather than worrying about dumb things like hair physics and background animations.”
Also sophisticated PC gamers: “OMG the new Pokemon game looks like CRAP! Why would anyone bother to play such an ugly game that looks like it came out 10 years ago?!”

Only for the small percentage of people who follow news about gaming companies. Vast majority of people haven’t heard anything negative, let alone so they give a shit. They might have ruined their reputation for you, personally; but they’re going to do just fine. Nintendo has shown that it doesn’t really matter what your company culture is or what practices you engage in; if you make fun games that are fun, people will buy them.
Why would I buy this?
I can only think of one reason, because it’s the game your friends are playing.
You have two choices; buy the shitty game with the understanding that the game itself is not what matters but the time spent playing with your friends. Or, don’t buy the game and spend the next few weeks, or months, not playing with your friends and hope they grow bored of the game soon.

If anyone hits a wall at about the midpoint of the game, I found a really good place to grind. Right after you get Monocco, there is an area you can go to called Frozen Hearts. If you immediately go and start to explore, you’ll soon realize this is a late game area that you are massively under leveled for.
HOWEVER, the first enemy you see is a Danseuses, and if you start the battle you’ll fight 3 of them. It will take a little bit, but they only have like 3 different attack patterns, after a few tries you should be able to learn them and parry/dodge them consistently. Once you have that down, you’ll be able to beat them without getting hit and they give a MASSIVE amount of exp. Then just head over to the nearby flag, heal up, and do it again. I stayed there for about hour fighting them repeatedly and bumped everyone up by like 10 levels.
The tricky part is memorizing their attack patterns consistently, I died a lot until I got it down. But the flag is really close by, so you can just keep throwing yourself at them until you do. Don’t bother trying to fight any of the other battles in this area, all the other ones have enemies that will outheal any damage you can do.

If you want to know more about the ARG elements and the full story of the game, check out this video which does a deep dive into it. There were some VERY buried secrets in this game, and the full story is absolutely insane.

B-b-but I was ASSURED by Lemmy that Nintendo was shooting themselves in the foot with their pricing and business practices. That they have lost everyones trust and will soon feel the sting of customer dissatisfaction.
Or maybe it’s just time to admit that Lemmy doesn’t have it’s hand on the pulse of society, but rather just its own dick.

It’s not about liking or disliking it, but thinking that this decision somehow hurts Nintendo. The absurdly naive belief that online opinions, especially here, actually affect any change in the real world.
Buy Nintendo products, or don’t; but don’t pretend like that has any effect on the company. Boycotts haven’t worked in decades.

No, I just have an adverse reaction to collective stupidity. I know I should try not to let it get to me, but when I see a bunch of people engaging in collective delusions about the state of the world, it upsets me. It’s like people choose to believe that just because what they’re saying sounds right, or should be right, that it’s actually the way things are.
This is how we get voter apathy. This is how we get Trump winning because “certainly people won’t support him THIS time”. I’m just sick of people pretending that anything in our society still follows the old rules of morality and justice, and then getting dismayed and confused when it doesn’t.
I just wish more people would see the world for what it is, rather than make shit up that sounds good and desperately pretend that’s the same as reality.

So your evidence is me telling a person having a mental crash out and making a childish rant due to overexposure to the internet to get off is your “proof” that I voted Republican? Weak shit.
My man, I’m as queer as the day is long and have voted blue for longer than the first time your mommy congratulated you for not shitting your pants at the age of 12.
But please, keep acting like a pathetic gatekeeper. It’s not like you have anything else going for you in life.

“Anyone I don’t like must vote Republican”
Hey shit eater, you don’t know me. You’re making assumptions based on absolutely nothing other than me not following the Lemmy hivemind. You need to have clear, firm evidence before you can make a claim.
For example, you’re a mouth breathing idiot. My evidence is based on your previous comment; a clear, firm example of stupidity. What exactly do you bring to the table?

This thread: “Nintendo so stupid. Everyone hates them! They’re gonna go bankrupt cuz no ones going to buy their games because of their bad business practices!”
Reality: The Switch 2 has one of the strongest console launches, despite increased prices. Their games continue to hold more value than others, with used games selling for near, or even above, their original sale price. Their consoles and games remain the #1 pick for families with kids.
You people are delusional. Yes, Nintendo’s practices are scummy. No, this does not affect their numbers in any way. They are still wildly successful, and even if they weren’t, they have such a huge reserve of capital that they could operate in the red for 20 years and still be fine.
Are NVIDIA drivers still an absolute bitch to get working correctly? Is there still no way to run games off Gamepass?
Ok cool, so it’s NOT just easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy to switch.
