I stumbled upon it two days ago and already have 15 hours in it ;-;

country finally starts cracking down on gambling

oh no wait nevermind they just want to sue a videogame company

Oh yeah, 100% I played for the first ~3 years OW was out and had a blast for the first two

It was after that where I started getting good and saw the flaws of the game. As you said, too many characters counter other characters, and the constricted 6v6 (and later 5v5) made individual performance stressful in many games

If you’re looking for a similar (but imo much better/laid back experience) then TF2 is a great game, where the medic supporter is the strongest class in the game

Just dropping that, while disco elysium is a top 10 favourite game for me, corporate suits stole the IP and none of the money goes to the creator

Pirate that shit boy

Been playing through the adventure mode of MTG Forge

It’s a good time, but I dislike the layout of the world and how quests work. It’d feel so much better if the locations weren’t randomly splodged around the map and instead followed some structure

Similarly, quests are really jank. You’re punished for not taking them, but also punished for abandoning them. Early game they’re either insanely hard or require a huge amount of luck, late game it just feels like a list of random chores

Also it’s annoying to go to a town, rifle through all the shops for a few minutes, before heading on over to the next town. They should cut down the amount of shops per town (right now it’s 10+, each with 6 items to choose from), and just make it a menu to go between them, as the second it takes to load is quite jarring and the travel time when in the town is redundant

But I’m just being picky. Right now it’s a fun game if you’re already into mtg, but with those changes it’d be an amazing game in its own right

I hatwcwhen guess try to add too many characters

Earlier on, it felt like I could competently play all characters and, when i saw another in the field, knew what to expect from them

Now, I feel like constantly learning new characters is a chore at best

I played it at launch and couldn’t get above 26 fps on lowest settings. That’s with constant stutters btw

I’m not playing it until I can at least hit a consistent 30

I’ve had a g703 for about five years now, and it’s been an excellent mouse

But fuck that bloatware, man. I was wondering for weeks why my mouse would randomly change sensitivity

I’ve been playing through monster hunter generations ultimate using it, it’s been a great time

I have a pretty good desktop pc that runs linux, and I still choose to use my steam deck 2/3rds of the time simply because it’s more convenient

That’s not what this was about?

They made an IP, a minor share holder used company funds to buy majority states in said company, then forced the guys who made the game out of the company. I’m not able to do investigative journalism in a comment, but there is still an ongoing legal case on this

It was initially an artist-owned company, which had a hostile takeover against the wishes of said artists

Not sure how you’d define it as anything other than stole

They made the IP and game, their parent company had a full change in leadership, they questioned what qas happening, and the new guys said “yoink” before kicking them out

Monster Hunter generations ultimate

Loaded it (legally) onto my steam deck :3

Ip was stolen by corporate suits

Pirating the game is the most moral thing you can do

[if AI was] removed once discovered, I don’t see any problem

The problem was that it was sold to consumers at all without consent. You don’t get off scot free when you accidently leave some cocaine for the inlaws to find. There was malicious intent just by not disclosing its usage

OpenOrca

You bring this up and imply we’re agreeing here, but I find it odd that you immediately backtrack and say that AI usage in general, not OpenOrca usage, is a-okay. It’s entirely irrelevant what AI tool you use if this company didn’t

Can I blame someone for using placeholder texture [using] AI

Yes. A placeholder texture should be made to be obvious that it’s a placeholder. As soon as it doesn’t do that, it’s failed at its job. By using AI like this, you’re effectively making the QA’s job 10 times harder, as now they have to stare at every texture to make sure it’s not AI generated

left and right creating drama [about CO]

Yes. Because information came out on a large platform that allowed more people to hear about it compared to when it was initially released.

I actually played through Clair Obscur about two months ago and gave it a very hearty review on steam, but as soon as I heard that they used AI without disclosing it that changed into a very charged negative thumbs down. It’s very easy to pretend that people just hate things because they’re popular, you see it all the time with youtubers and movies after all. Unfortunately, there’s usually a very good reason that irks these people

The vast majority was made by hand, and the game is good

You seem to have missed my main point, and it’s not just here, either. You eluded to this frame of mind multiple times when writing these past two comments. My entire argument is that it was incredibly scummy to not disclose the usage of AI, robbing the buyer of any agency in the matter

Me responding to your other points is really just entertaining their idea, rather than engaging in a thoughtful discussion, as the only response you had for this main point was mainly along the lines of the above quote I’m responding to, which is really just moving goalposts

By acting like it doesn’t matter because everything else is good, you’re kind of weirdly conceding the point, as if it didn’t matter if they did it, then why shouldn’t they disclose it?

And yet, as we seem to be skirting around my original point of, this wasn’t disclosed when sold

I’m against AI in video games, but what I dislike here is the action of deceit. Of not allowing buyers to make an informed choice

This entire comment is baffling to me, in all honesty

Maybe because all AI generated assets got removed?

Not before being unknowingly sold to the public

I think the whole anti-AI craze of late is more bullshit than sane arguments.

My problem with AI is its heavy usage of plagiarism and vast degree of power consumption, as well as the price hikes its caused for many computer parts

They where used by artists… not by executives seeking to make some more bucks

Whenever anything is attempting to make money, it should be put under the highest scrutiny. It does not matter who’s pushing it. Similarly, I find it odd that we’re assuming the inner workings of Clair Obscur’s workplace

You cannot expect someone to go through every single texture in a game… just to make sure [no AI] was forgotten

If you replaced AI here with anything defamatory, like pictures of penises placed by an enraged employee after being fired, then even having a few would be devastating on sales. The single fact that we’re okay with a few means that, over time, that bar will likely be pushed further down the road “oh, it’s just this one character that practically never shows up” “oh, it’s just the skyboxes, they’re basically not noticeable anyway” “who cares if the early access uses AI voices? They’ll be replaced eventually!”

people trying to get views by hating on something popular

I assure you, AI is not popular. Studies have shown that AI is causing people more concern than excitement Not the most reputable source, but oh well

Blue Prince does use AI assets

No it didn’t

But guess what did? The Alters

This is less like making a new cake from scratch after disposing of the previous one, and more like making a new cake using the same unwashed cake tin and utensils

No matter what, the AI replacements would have affected how the artists made the final products as, whether they liked it or not, they had a point of reference in the form of the AI texture

People are saying “it’s fine because it was used in the early stages of the game for placeholder art” but that’s kind of missing the point

The problem is that they used AI and didn’t disclose it, as well as releasing the game with AI textures still in it. Yes, these textures were quickly replaced, but it’s still very concerning they weren’t upfront on how they were using it in the game making process

Edit: there isn’t even a disclosure on their steam page

Isn’t this the IP that got stolen by suits, with the creators getting fired from the company afterwards?

be me

want to try out this new rtx thing

choose to boot up a classic, portal 1

I guess it looks prettier

consistently runs at 30> fps with constant frame drops

why were people hyped for this again?

Been playing through persona 4 golden, it’s about o gigs on size off the top of my head

Also dark souls

Thoroughly enjoyed a supercut of Jerma’s elden ring playthrough

That was some top tier second screen content

And now they’re owned by Krafton, an “AI first” company

Yaaaay

Wait, I thought this game was a depiction of what we subject horses to, using a horror lens to drive home the point? I’ve never heard of something less sexy?

I primarily use Linux, and since GOG doesn’t have a native Linux version, it’s just much more convenient to use steam

Playing though persona 4 golden. After some headaches with denuvo, I’m finally having a good time

Atlus, like many Japanese companies, is very protective of their ips, for worse. There is no better

Yesterday I tried to mod persona 4 golden on Linux. After a couple hours of headaches and some help from the developer, I finally managed to fix the problem and launch persona aaaaand denuvo shut it down.

Denuvo literally shut down my legal version of P4G because I used one too many versions of proton. This is why I support fitgirl

I’m assuming there’d be no online multiplayer or modding, as they’d be outside the realm of the game - it’s content made by other people (and it’s more interesting if you exclude them anyway), and I’m assuming there’d be no more updates (so only current or previous patches)

So we’d be looking for replayable single player games

  1. Minecraft. If that’s not on your list then you’re joking
  2. Terraria. Sandbox like minecraft, but the more legacy-focused scope of the game would be a nice change
  3. Factorio. This game is called cracktorio for a reason
  4. Monster Hunter world. Very replayable when you want to hit big monsters with big swords
  5. Maimai. Bet you didn’t expect a rhythm game to be here, bitch! With all other video games gone, maimai would explode in popularity, and I’d finally be able to play maimai locally instead of only in the city on the occasional day off. Yes, this list is just a place holder for the real number 1

It’s true that most of his romhacks are at the very least slightly harder than their original counterparts, but the one I’d still recommend is sacred gold/storm silver

My sense of difficulty is a bit skewed as I tend to mainly do hardcore nuzlockes, but I recently played through storm silver normally and it was a blast. The gym leaders needed a bit more thought when fighting as each of their pokemon were more powerful, but my ragtag group of 6 I ran with only ever failed once in the whole playthrough, and that was against the elite 4 (so somewhat expected)

Drayano made a series of rom hacks for pokemon that, to be frank, are better than the originals. Would highly recommend if you’re interested in adding a little spice to your next game

I’d played through about half of it myself years ago, and again fully with a friend recently

For me, it’s borderlands 2

I thought the gameplay was pretty good, in a “turn your brain off and shoot guys with gradually increasing numbers” kind if way, and I absolutely adored whenever Handsome Jack showed up, but that’s pretty much it

I’ve heard from more than a few sources that the shooting on that game’s peak, but it’s just kind of generic. Outside of Jack, I thought the writing was honestly pretty lacklustre as well, even getting annoying in more than one instance (CATCH A RIIIIIDE FUCK OFF DIPSHIT). The cell-shaded artsyle is quite pretty, I will give it that

At its core, I think it’s just… fine.
