I can think of a few reasons as to why a website would run ads. I can think of a few reasons as to why a website would limit download speeds
I cannot fathom for any non greed-ridden reason as to why a website would make you wait five seconds before downloading a mod. It’s an inconvenience for the sake of an inconvenience, a problem they made to sell the solution
Of course, we need to keep in mind that they don’t make the mods, they merely host them. Compare the amount of bloat on their website to other, less funded ones such as lovers lab and gamebanana, and it becomes apparent that there’s a money sink somewhere
I had an argument with a guy who was in a shared friend’s discord server about this. He was adamant that, if somebody spent too much money on a game, then it was all their fault. Despite me going over several (clearly manipulative) tactics, all he said was that people who fell for these must be stupid and that they deserved it
Yeah later on he was kicked because of other (Similarly dickish) reasons
It’s honestly insane. I zipped up a bunch of files (mainly emulation and modding) to total around a terabyte. I moved it to an external hd and then to Linux, and it only took about an hour to unpack it. I’ve never had something unpack so fast
For a smaller scale example, I had a ~2GB file that unzipped in about 10 seconds as well
Sure, it took me 15 minutes to scrounge around online trying to figure out why my .rar file wasn’t unzipping properly, but after that I saved all that time and then some
I played about 15 hours with a friend and honestly found it to be a very annoying experience
The combat never felt satisfying, and reminded me a little too much of destiny 2. By this I mean that all the shots from your guns sounded and felt like you were roughly sneezing on the enemies, and the ui felt too “clean” for what was supposed to be a more gritty game
The layouts of the dungeons felt nonsensical, such as in that one British town setting, or absolutely mind numbingly boring, such as in the futuristic open desert one
After my time playing, it felt like I was making no story progress (besides the characters sometimes saying “wow where’s that one character we saw for all of ten minutes”), and it was never clear how I was supposed to progress. This is in stark contrast to dark souls, where this is an intended and relishable experience
