I get really invested in what I play. So long as background lore is consistent, I end making my own char lore and having a blast with it. The cult, as shown ingame, just really creeped me out.

My bad. That point Was a bit too harsh.

Should have been clearer. The devil worshippers themselves creeped me out way too much for me to continue.

I should have been clearer. Simple story (aka Doom) is more than okay. (I specially loved its beginning. Fuck why Im shooting. I just want to shoot).

Its just the whole atmosphere of the cult that creeped me out wayyy too much. Then came the holo where you someone is being live sacrificed while the crazy head scientist looked on, and I just had to drop it then. Couldnt play anymore.

Tldr: The atmosphere of the cult was a bit too much for me to handle.

Request for FPS recommendations.
Hello. The past few months Ive been almost exclusively playing fantasy and survival games, so much so that I need a break from them. Looking for single player FPS recommendations with controller support from the last decade. A good story is preferred. Games Ive played: 01. Warframe (dont ask. The lore is okay-ish. I stayed for friends). 02. Titanfall 2. (PEAK) 03. Apex Legends (Briefly. The sweatiness and timed lore turned me off). 04. Doom 2016 (Dropped this, sadly. Gunplay and parkour was AWESOME, but the whole devil worship thing really turned me off). 05. Dying Light 1. (Okay Story. Awesome fighting. Never played 2 because of the whole controversy with the ~~story director~~. EDIT: Story writer, not director) 06. The Metro Series. 1, 2 and Exodus. (Slightly weak lore. Still alot of fun). Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Edit: regarding Dying Light: https://screenrant.com/dying-light-2-developer-techland-loses-another-writer/ https://screenrant.com/dying-light-2-developers-frustration-bad-management/

I get a bad feeling from this, specially the expansion of the team.

Will Wildhorse studio remain Wildhorse with so many new people?

Our second Major Update has arrived, featuring the final confrontation of the surface route, one last Olympian and all his Boons, a new Animal Familiar to bond with, streamlined resource gathering, plenty of new music and artwork, and more! We’re excited to know what you think, and will be monitoring feedback in the coming weeks to ensure these latest additions are working properly.

Not full release. Just an update, bugfix and balance pass.

Huh, chances are I actually might.

I have serious issues running a game to the ground (aka, obsessively play just one game) before moving on, especially large games. (I WANT to enjoy them. I also want enjoy everything else in the game. End up burned out by the final boss. )

Been trying to pace myself with Stardew, and been successful do far, but I was looking for something switch up with Stardew. This just might be it.

Thanks for the heads up!

On one hand, I really want to continue of Ghost of Tsushima.

On the other hand, I have Genshin Impact installed that Ive been meaning to try (reddit and my younger sister tell me its easily possible to do all but the highest level stuff without spending any money,/gambling and even said content is still doable with skill).

Though in the end, Ill probably default to Stardew Valley 😂

Nah, I actually did manage to win that one. No taverns :)

Still, thanks for letting me know that its doable. Off to buy the expansions!

Is there a way to play without having to give wine/beer to your colonists?

I bought this game day 1 cause I LOVE the concept, but as a personal rule I stay away from all things alcohol. Even the virtual concept of handing out beer felt awful. Had to drop the game eventually.

If anyone knows wether its possible to win a round without touching the virtual drink, please let me know. Good town building games are so damn rare :(

Join us. Also this: http://digitalemelas.com/m.index_ys.php

The website gives a non spoiler intro into the world of ys, as well the best order(s) to play rest of the games. Their discord is also active, if you have questions.

^ This. This is the way (No way am I starting on PC from the beginning as is)

Same. I actually bought it again on sale in steam. Though Ill most probably stick to mobile version + controller for it. PC version is now for mod testing (aka make it mobile-like)

Been wanting to play this soooo bad.

Definitely pickong it up after Ys.

Stardew Valley and Ys origin.

With Stardew, It started on mobile, grew with an old Bluetooth xbone controller for combat, moved on to PC for the mods, and am now learning modding to add some things I missed from the mobile version 😁

Ys origin for when I want a break from Stardew. Simple demon bashing is quite therapeutic.

Honestly? I like both the screenshot poster.

The current OP’s posts I tend to skim over, (unless its a game I already played, like this one) cause spoilers. . The other poster has less spoilery posts that I like to read more often (specially the ones he plays with his friends). . To each there own ¯\(ツ)

Same. Back in the 2000s era, when me and my siblings would fight on whos turn was it to play, games like this (and in our case, the Resident Evil series), would always go to our Brother.

  • Backseat horror gaming? Can do.
  • Actual horror gaming? aww hell no

Hard agree on the weqpon upgrades. Getting the perfect one, upgrading it to the nines and FEEL like it was worth it was one of the fun parts in HZD. Not so much here (Wildmaws shudders)

Regarding Strike, if they had slowed down the pace of the game, like death of the world in a few years instead of months (with hard timeskips you could gree to), and set the Strike tables in out-of-the-way corners you never have to go to without good reason, I MIGHT have felt like playing it. Deff interesting, just not part of the overall tone of the game.

This. So much this.

Also, the one incharge of side quests needs a bloody promotion. The side quests quality in Forbidden West was overall as good as the MAIN quest quality in Zero Dawn.

The quest themselves (minus a few misses), the voice acting and mocap, the POLISH. swoon

Its not the graphics that need a rework, its their quest syatem.

The side quests were tied to your overall level, meaning if you were overleveled, you could unlock quests to battles that were only explained way later in the main quest line. Also the Frozen Wilds expansion made more sense if you did them BEFORE the final quarter of the main story line, but the missions themselves were of a higher level than the endgame boss.

Regarding the main quest line, while its quality is noticibly much higher in Zero Dawn than the later game Forbidden West, the way they were structured meant that f you unlocked the extra dialogue (from talking to certain NPCs) out of order, the whole script felt a little jarring.

Tldr: the quest system of Zero Fawn needs a fuckton of polish, not the graphics

You just described my dream racing game ❤

Gonna have to dig around for one like that again

[Aug 2024] What are the current most active forums for specific video game discussions?
Im currently playing Horizon Forbidden West, and one main story point was a serious let down compared to its prequel, Zero Dawn. The only (good) discussions I found on the topic were all on reddit, which I had left during the great Lemmy migration. Do I need to go back to reddit for game forum discussions? Is there any other active place that discusses specific games? Edit: Grammer

Used to play Warframe pretty religiously with wasd, where shift was part of a key movement combo. After a year or so, developed significant pain in my left pinky.

Shifting to esdf was damn awkward for about 2 weeks. The sheer pinky comfort though.👌
