The books are canon for the games, yes. The games are not canon. Idk what else to say. I played W2 and 3 originally without having read the books. It didn’t seem weird in W3 because W2 was spent looking for her the entire game. And it gave clues about their history. After having read the books W3 makes even more sense since I understood more about the characters. There is nothing unreasonable about how they did that game. The game is totally fine without having read the books. But I am telling you that it makes more sense if you did.
The whole triss vs yen thing was lazy fanservice added by CDPR. If you read the books, it’s clear Geralt is destined to be with Yen. The books make this abundantly clear. It also makes it crystal clear that Geralt thinks of Triss like a little sister, not romantically. There was absolutely no reason to have that in the book. It’s straight up stupid fanservice and made the game into kind of a meme in my opinion.
Yes I completely agree. The best source for game issues I’ve found is technical discord servers and asking people there. However this is not ideal either because:
Discord is entshitifying and will probably be dogshit in a few years (they recently announced they wanted to go IPO and we all know what that means.)
Discord is not searchable on search engines
Search within discord is dogshit
You have to ask people and wait for an answer which is not guaranteed.
I probably wouldn’t bank on Lemmy for tech advice. I see the same misinformation posted here as on Reddit for tech.
Lemme know your thoughts. I see how it has merit and is possible but yeah, it totally kills the vibe. Maybe it was something the devs put in but ultimately abandoned, but kinda didn’t scrub it all out prior to release.
There’s audio logs in theta of someone trying to reach carthage for instructions. It’s obvious. What’s unclear is if she’s doing it out psychosis or actually knows they’re still around.
Idk how much you dove into the lore, but have you ever read about the Carthage theory? There were some hints that Cathage Industries (who owned Pathos 2) were still around (they had other underwater facilities) and responsible for creating Simon and were monitoring the situation, sort of like Resident Evil Umbrella Corp style. Personally I’m not a huge fan of that theory as it takes away from the mood of the game, but it’s interesting and has a lot of merit.
Yea. It was really well done. I think it could totally be a TV show or a game. Idk if you feel this way but literally no game or movie or anything has ever made me feel as fucked up (in a good way) as SOMA did the first time I played it. I mean horror, philosophy, anger, sadness, denial. It had it all. I even made the same mistake that Simon makes where I totally didn’t want to believe that he would never really make it to the Ark (because copy paste, not cut paste.) It was just so good. Omg also the part where the guy is talking about killing yourself right after getting the scan…to obtain “continuity.” Absolutely crazy, even if the theory doesn’t make sense lol. I can see how in a moment of desperation that it could make sense to you.
Why do people even get excited about games before they release and are reviewed? I suggest not paying attention to any “gaming news” until a game is out and reviews are posted. Why waste your time otherwise? Same with tech. Just don’t pay attention until something is released and reviewed. Your time is better spent elsewhere on real tangible things.
That’s an absolute lie and you know it.
