Lol I’d hardly call it a Pavlovian response. It’s more that it’s a well known date for stores to have sales on their merchandise, which is why people shop around on those days. I don’t see what’s so offensive about saving some money on a purchase you were going to make anyway, but I think there is some projection happening here.

The point is to increase sales. Browsing a website or walking through a store and not buying anything doesn’t generate any revenue for a business. Nothing is being consumed, nor is anyone being forced to buy things against their will as the term “ordered” would suggest.

Do you get this bent out of shape when a store has a sale or promotion at any other point in the year?

I’d hardly call them “orders.” I will shop for deals on both days, but that doesn’t mean I’m actually going to buy anything, especially with all the price tracking extensions available and the severe lack of actual discounts over the last few years. I will only buy things that are actually on sale and things that I actually want/need prior to me seeing them on discount.

I dunno I haven’t really been excited for any of the games released over the last couple years. It seems like nothing but legacy games like COD/Battlefield/Destiny and a few gems like Elden Ring. Most of these big studios seem to be laying off employees or shutting down instead of releasing new games. Part of this is just me being burnt out on gaming, but with so many studios struggling, it seems like it’s more than just me feeling like this.

One major improvement with the PS5 is the instant loading times. I don’t think this thing will be any faster in that regard but it’s a major improvement over the PS4. The other improvement over my original PS4 is that it doesn’t sound like a jet engine after 20 minutes of running.

Ray tracing is cool but what console games are even using it at this point? It’s like them advertising “8K capable” as if anyone gives a shit about that during a time that 4k is just barely becoming the standard for most.

Yes, anyone with access to the internet is able to seek out porn which is why it seems unnecessary to risk pushing it in the faces of kids on a site marketed to children.

I find the incel comment hilarious considering you’re the one pushing for more women getting naked in game streaming videos like some thirsty dude.

Nothing wrong with streaming nudity, but Twitch is specifically marketed to children for the purpose of watching people play video games. Blending porn in that with an algorithm that throws new videos in your face is a recipe for disaster.

Your “supposed to be clearly labeled” argument is really doing a lot of the heavy lifting here and ignores the reality of people gaming the system or finding loopholes and we all know there aren’t going to be any real people moderating the site just like every other social media/video streaming site.

They really should have split it up into two different sites because I see this blowing up in their face spectacularly.

The article just states a “mid-cycle refresh” which doesn’t necessarily mean it has to outpace the original in performance.

Traditionally, console makers like Sony and Microsoft often create a mid-cycle console refresh,

Am I tripping or did this only happen once each? Was there some PS3 Pro or Xbox 360X that I missed?

console makers have been releasing slim versions for years

what the fuck are you even talking about?

It’s a little early to be drinking, bud

Why the fuck is this guy interviewing someone who doesn’t even work for the developer about a game that is still years away from coming out?

How can you measure this off 3 days of activity? Do they assume people sit and play video games 24/7?

Not to mention with all the supply chain issues, most people weren’t even able to get a PS5 until the last year or so and I’m sure none of those people want to repurchase a slightly upgraded version so soon.

They had slim variants going back to the Playstation/PS1. More recently was the “pro” models coming out trying to jump on the Apple marketing bandwagon.

The first was embarrassing too like claiming your McDonald’s food is the best because it outsells my tri-tip.

The article makes zero mention of digital sales though so it doesn’t support OP’s claim about “selling more than any other COD.”

They’ve never sold this many copies of MW3 before. It’s an unprecedented amount.

I think it’s the screen, actually, and I don’t see much they can do about those.

34 years after one of the most popular handhelds was released “these things are the future of gaming!!1!.”

They also recently announced that all unlicesenced third party accessories will cease to work with the Xbox as of a couple days ago.

I got about the same out of this guy. He acts so cocksure when dismissing others opinions but can’t even seem to formulate his own counterpoint. It’s just a one-sided discussion and this person has zero to offer to the conversation other than nitpicking and Socratic questions that lead nowhere.

Still can’t form an actual argument? What seems to be the issue here? You seemed to have such strong convictions in your point of view earlier.

The irony here. You’ve made zero argument other than “not uh!” and expect me to keep repeating what I’ve already stated in good faith. I focused on social media companies because that’s what you had an issue with. Nobody disputes whether companies like Microsoft, SpaceX, Intel, and Apple are tech companies. The dispute here is whether Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc are really tech companies and more specifically whether any news surrounding these companies should be considered tech news (which you’ve already been given examples of) rather than just news about their actual tech products.

So social media companies don’t apply scientific knowledge? Are you serious?

Nobody stated that.

Once again I’ll ask you to define what you think social media companies are and how that definition doesn’t include every other company with a web presence. Are you or are you not able to do that?

I said the code is the tech and then gave examples of what isn’t tech. What else do you want? The dictionary definition is

the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.

which points even further away from social media being tech IMO.

Trump and Musk are pieces of shit but that guy has a point. Try getting into an EV or autonomous driving discussion where you bring up a Tesla without hearing ad hominems about you “sucking Elons dick” or having to hear the content of every recent tweet he’s made when all you’ve done is strictly talk about the technology. These people are just as obsessed with the guy as the fanboys are.

The product itself (the code) may be considered tech but the company’s/employee’s/executive’s business/personal/anything outside of the product dealings shouldn’t be. If running a website makes any information related to you tech related then literally every company is a tech company. Meta’s stock price dropping because Zuckerbot farted in a kindergarten classroom isn’t anything tech related. Subscription fees being added or increased isn’t tech related.

How would you define tech with regards to social media and how does that definition not include any other company running a website that you can interact with?

“Get with the times” he says without realizing that console players far exceed PC gamers, nor acknowledging all the scalping that has gone on with GPUs for a half a decade or more. If your PC costs 3x the price of a console to build, you’re not saving any money just because Steam has some games on sale.

That isn’t unique to consoles. I have plenty of games on PC that tell me I need to install some third-party launcher and then update the game when I try to open it.

The $5k AUS price is for the kit itself. The article mentions that traditional conversions cost $50k AUS.

Not so surprising to me. The same thing happened to the PSVR 1.

I think it’s because most people already tried out the Quest 2 since it was a bargain. I bought one and forget I even own it most of the time and the same goes for 4/5 of the other people I know with one.

VR is not bad but it nothing about it has really drawn me in at all.

Probably Octoprint or Klipperscreen.

Using them for a Home Assistant interface is a pretty popular use.

They’ll ban your new account too once you post something.

If he’d made it to Covid times, he would have died from Covid after injecting bleach and horse dewormer failed to alleviate the illness.

Lol

China isn’t censoring their internet because you’re a trans person who lives in the UK, BBC doesn’t have trans personalities, and certain US politicians are attacking trans rights? Wow, what an argument.

Also I’m racist for pointing out authoritarianism from an authoritarian government?

You’re doing a terrible job with your concern trolling. Put in some effort at least.

This is like saying, “I’m not a racist I have a black friend”

This is your local sherif, and I demand $10000 paid in ITunes gift cards or else we will issue a warrant for your arrest.
