On the samsung phones, click to show the full specifications. Then go down to the dust resistant spec and hover over the question mark.

Waiting for the phone model so I can pull up the specifications that will have this information. I don’t keep a list of phones that have a 3.5mm port on me.

Read the footnotes on those sites, you silly goose…

Do you want me to make a video that shows you where that is on the page?

For which phone model would you like me to look up the manufacturer’s website for you?

Ok, I’ll say that to your xperia, s9+, and s7

Per manufacturer’s website for xperia:

This device is water resistant and protected against dust. All ports and attached covers should be firmly closed. Do not put the device completely underwater or expose it to seawater, salt water, chlorinated water or liquids such as drinks. Abuse and improper use of device will invalidate the limited warranty. The device has been tested under Ingress Protection rating IP65/68. After 30 minutes in the container, the device is gently taken out and its functions and features are tested. Note this model has a capless USB port to connect and charge. Per manufacturer’s website for s9+:

Water-resistant and dustproof based on IP67 Rating, which tests submersion up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Not shockproof.

Its IP65 if the headphone jack isnt covered. Per the manufacturer’s website for this phone model:

The device has been tested for water resistance using IEC 60529 standard and has achieved an IP65/68 rating. Water and dust resistance can deteriorate over time in normal usage, or if the device is damaged, repaired or taken apart. The device should never be completely submerged underwater, and should not be allowed to come into contact with seawater, brine, chlorinated water or drinks. Failure to observe correct precautions will invalidate the device warranty and the function of water and dust resistance. Water resistance is tested by submerging the device to a depth of 1.5 meters in tap water for 30 minutes. After the test the device is removed and fully dried, then checked for normal operation. Please note that the device has a USB-C charging port, and this USB-C port must be completely dry before any attempt is made at charging. For related warranty information, please refer to the product warranty card.

Oh man, FYI you can’t get an IP68 rating with a headphone jack alone unless you manually cover the slot each time.

Id rather have a good ip68 rated phone with adapters than a shitty phone with native 3.5mm port and sdcard slot, but to each their own.

Uh, Android supports using sdcards, 3.5mm headphone jacks, and also nvme drives. Literally just get any usb-c adapter for your use case.

Id go for an nvme drives over sdcards though.

Dont buy shitty android phones then. Gotta get the higher end, big name phones that actually take care of the boot loader. Pixel phones come to mind.

I just uninstalled rocket league.

After 9 years and 4200 hours, it just feels like its time. No hard feelings at all. It was a great game and I enjoyed the first 4100 hours. Im just not improving anymore and don’t want to sink more time into learning mechanics.

Ive peaked 1605 MMR (GC2) but its tough to stay motivated enough to continue at that rank.

What disgruntled them this time that didn’t disgruntle them in the previous 2 years? It went to shit as soon as Elon bought it. Were they just ignoring the red flags for 2 years straight?

Yea, did he mention all the other successful epic games? No. There aren’t any. Or they’re dying.

Gotta read between the lines.

They’ve been doing this tactic for a few years now. Not a new thing tbh.

And the anti cheat functions in user space! No special permissions required.

Guess where they got their inspiration from?

AKA the new internet (the SAFE network) that has been in development for 18 years and is about to hit beta here in the upcoming weeks.

Yeah it’s super fun. You get paired up with similar skill level teammates and you get to practice and scrim with them a lot. Most of the leagues are free, and some allow players of all skill levels to join. The teams play for fun, but there is a lot of competitiveness. No prizes or anything in the league I play in, but the community is reward enough. Thousands of people in there and most of them still play this 8 year old game religiously lol

Still playing Rocket League. Playing in a 32 franchise league. Season 19 just started. Didn’t have a great start, so will probably be looking to make a roster move and cut some players from the team, and pick up some free agents. Gotta start turning things around now before the season is lost.

This is relevant to giving apps “root access”. How is that not relevant?

Its called the principle of least privilege, or principle of minimal privilege, or principle of least authority.

Its a philosophy learned by anyone who is serious about information assurance. Its a very basic, yet fundamental security concept.

Notably, there is a difference between admin and root.

One has checks, the other can run scripts, change permissions, move files, delete files, hide malware, install rootkits, install ransomware, exfiltrate data, alter your OS, change hardware voltages, etc all without so much as a prompt.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned veteran with handling root, it can cause some heavy damage to your system when you or another application mishandle it.

Rule of thumb is to remain in user mode for the entirety of your sessions. Only use admin rights when you need to make a system change. Most well-designed applications should not need to be run as admin, and definitely not root.

Rooting Android is one of the most insecure things you can do to your Android phone.

As long as its in user space, sb fine. Does this need admin privileges to run?
