NVIDIA CEO Says Gamers Are 'Completely Wrong' About DLSS 5

In a press Q&A with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the CEO has said that those who have criticised DLSS 5 and the tech are "completely wrong".

This was actually the sub-headline of the article but I thought was the more important party of the article.

Speaking with developers and artists at studios that have agreed to DLSS 5, including CAPCOM and Ubisoft, Insider Gaming was told that the DLSS 5 tech was revealed to them at the same time as everyone else.

“We found out at the same time as the public,” said one Ubisoft developer.

Developers at CAPCOM tell Insider Gaming that the announcement and the publisher’s involvement were particularly shocking, as CAPCOM has previously been historically very “anti-AI” with projects such as Resident Evil Requiem and other unannounced projects in development. Some at the publisher fear that the DLSS 5 announcement could prompt a change in the publisher’s view on generative AI and its implementation in its games.

The thing I don’t understand here is, don’t developers have to include support for this in their products? If they don’t think it has actual benefit for their game, can’t they just … not? It would seem like nVidia would know this and want to make a product that developers and customers actually want. Am I missing something?

Bethesda acted like they were clued in, but that’s on par for them.

Bethesda: What is this new feature? What does it do exactly?

NVIDIA: It just works.

Bethesda: Now you’re speaking my language.

What a bone-headed move. I guess we’re in the “Benevolent dictator” portion of the AI Boom - Gaming relationship. I feel like we’re at such a disconnect now that gamers are looking elsewhere.

Hot take: I think these decisions will drive gamers back to simplicity, community, and y’know…gameplay rather than flash and boom.

It’s no surprise that smaller studios are profiting while the big ones are languishing.

Then again people keep buying NHL, NFL, and FIFA 26, so what do I know.

If you have to trick people into using your product you probably shouldn’t be making it.
