I have one and I have been enjoying it.

Why? For whom? The 80s are over, what am I supposed to do with an 1.5" 1bit display? Play games I played 40yrs ago, but now on the tiniest display I ever had? And 1bit? My first computer had a 1bit display. It sucked ass.

I’m no AAA-gamer that values gfx over gameplay (the contrary actually), but come on…

And all this for 100 moneyz? I could not think of any single use case this would beat a stinky smartphone, which I’d also carry. And even if I had no phone, I’d buy a used gameboy or some other handheld for that price.

I love a good handheld but am struggling to wrap my brain around when this device would be desirable to use or have around. I can’t think of a time I wouldn’t prefer something the size of an r36s especially with it’s far larger library of games.

Its for people who like simple games (theres over 400+ now) and “game and watch” kind of setup. I like putting it in my wallet and bringing it out when I get bored. It gets something like 8-9 hours of battery life. So much that I forget to charge it for weeks on end.

You can also tinker like crazy. I got a couple of games and apps that work with it. Its all C++ but as long as it runs on an Arduino it can most likely run on the device.

I have a miyoo mini plus. And it doesn’t scratch the itch that the arduboy has with simple/tinker games. Both are made for different reasons.

Hope that answers your question!

Guess it’s just personal preference. I’m generally gaming on the train ride into work so I’ve got a solid 30 minute block to play and have space in my bag for a larger device. I’m also not usually looking to tinker with devices much post initial setup but can understand why someone would enjoy doing so. Thanks for answering, glhf.

Am I crazy or is the aspect ratio on that screen a little weird

No you’re right - it’s 2:1, which is an unusual aspect ratio. But it looks like it’s intended to run games designed specifically for it rather than emulating other systems, so I guess it’s less a drawback and more a neat quirk.

If I can’t play Pokémon Crystal on it, I don’t want it! 🙎🏻 However, I do enjoy seeing new gadgets, and hope this project brings joy to people
