They’re there to ensure a game works and won’t brick any systems or steal bank details etc. They don’t typically check that a game is ‘good’, since it’s so subjective.
Nintendo’s eShop is a mess. Because it puts the shovelware next to everything else.
Steam isn’t so bad. I rarely find it unless I’m in the dark recesses of a tag. And whenever im curious if what shovelware exists, I just visit indiegala.

I thought consoles had their long winded certification processes? Do they not catch these types of games there?
