If they want more players they could stop using denuvo. I bought almost every atlus game for 20 years but I pretty much only game on PC these days and refuse to buy a single player game with always online drm.

Yep… No denuvo, non-scummy DLC practices, stop releasing the same game multiple times for full prices.

On second thought, they’d have to change completely as a business for me to buy any of their games.

Persona 5 is great and already mixes up the formula in many ways (gun). But many players just don’t care for RPGs regardless.

I enjoyed what I played of Catherine! They don’t have to scrap RPGs, just mix it up and release other projects.

Tbh tho I don’t have the best opinion of Atlus. They really screwed the RPCS3 project years ago, at a time when there was no official option for playing Persona 5 on PC. The project survived, but they wiped any mention of Persona 5, even in the game compatibility list.

I think Expedition 33 showed that this is not the case. Guns are a minor change to combat in Persona 5, it felt almost the same as P3R. They should play around with bigger changes.

“With these changing times, we do feel the need to update our format and create games that would be more widely playable, not just within the JRPG realm, but something that would be easier, more accessible for a wider audience. We’re hoping to update our format with that in mind,” [Katsura Hashino] admits.

Time and again the most successful and praised games have been fucking hard; time and again the directors come up with the plan of dumbing down their games to adapt to “changing times”. This is the year of Expedition 33 and Silksong, how can someone come up with the conclusion that gamers don’t care for RPGs and hard games?

Because they see the sales numbers of FC 25 or Battlefield 6, or the revenue of Roblox.
