Today’s screenshot is from Shift at Midnight. The game has a Demo up on Steam now. It’s this game where you run a gas station’s graveyard shift, only the twist is that some customers are Doppleganger’s who will attack the gas station if they manage to checkout. So you have to check them and make sure they arent a double through an ID check, a mood scan, and just general questioning. If they’re a double? You pop em with the gun under the counter. Yeah, it doesn’t really make sense logically (they could just attack you in the store), but it’s still fun to play.

We had one customer come in walking funny. We thought he might be a double at first, but nope. dude just had music in his heart and had to dance. Once everything checked out, i rang him up and let him dance on his marry way. (Ignore the… unique posters me and my friend decorated with).

There’s this one guy in the back each night shift that gets closer and closer. We thought at first he was a threat, but he eventually got close enough to touch. And me and my friend, being stupid idiots, did the stupid idiot thing and touched him. He’s friendly! He even left us a little heart made of coins. He’s just a little sweety.

We had another double, only this one was my friend. I think if it wasn’t for the fact i saw my friend walk past, i wouldn’t have grabbed the gun and shot the double. I’m lucky i did because i was not expecting that. It was an awesome curveball for the game to throw at us.

The demo is short, but it’s a good time. If you have friends to play with i highly suggest picking it up. It’s a good hour to just spend playing with friends. I’m excited for the full release and i hope it has an endless mode because this is a good time.

Serious question, do you actually play a different game every single day?

I wouldn’t say it’s a “different” game, but I play a lot with friends and they like to bounce around or try new things (and I tend to get distracted by other games too).

Sometimes you’ll notice me get really hooked on a game and play that for like a week straight. I think Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Silent Hill f were the last single player games I got hooked on like that. I tried to get into Resident Evil 2 during October too but something about it I couldn’t get into at the time. Maybe some other time.

I’ve been meaning to try one of these lofi late night shift at a retail store horror games.

Not sure which one to try though, there are multiple with their own specific hooks.

This one was fun with friends. I saw a YouTuber a few years ago play one that also looked interesting but I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called.

I wouldn’t mind one of these that looks like it’s going to pan out to be a horror game but then just is a regular Late Shift game

How do you find the time to play all these games, and the friends to play them with. After work and personal chores I feel like I have so little time left for myself I usually can’t bring myself to play anything other than a few short rounds of Dead By Daylight solo queue and I’m single right now, can’t imagine the situation if I had a family

We all go through time like that. If you like single player games, what helped me was getting a Switch (I had almost quit gaming before that), the ability to play on a handheld which you can pause (put in sleep) anywhere is a godsend. Everyone is different though, but can be worth a try. You can try getting a SteamDeck, and see if that works for you.

At the end of the day, if playing short rounds of Death by Daylight is what you enjoy the most, nothing wrong with just keep doing that.

Yeah I’m either gonna get a steam deck or get a tablet and setup moonlight for remote gaming in the future, I think because my job involves sitting at a desk 8 hours a day, after work I just don’t want to sit on my computer for much longer, a handheld gaming device would help with that

I’m a college student currently living with his parents and i don’t work, and I planned my courses really well. Like right now I only have classes 3/7 days a week. So the result is just a lot of free time on my hand. And I’ve always been kind of diligent about personal chores (or found ways to be efficient about them)

So outside of class time, I really only spend my time studying, playing games, and hanging out with friends. It’s really a situation I’m lucky (and thankful to have)
