Is there any third party game on switch 2 that wasn’t on the first switch? Looking at the Nintendo store I can’t even tell.

They made a filter for that specifically on eShop :P

Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0, Bravely Default Remaster. All rereleases. Only Fast Fusion and Split Fiction are new but both are a bit of a niche thing.

I’ve gone through all tabs of the eShop and don’t see any filter like that anywhere.

Maybe they should’ve put the game on the cartridge.

Yeah, turns out $80 for a game will have people only buying must have games or in my case no games at all.

Are any third party games $80 right now? I thought it was literally just Mario Kart World.

Do you think parents or casuals know that, or do you think that they only know of the TV news reports of the console and game price increases? The biggest story revolving around the Switch 2 before launch was the price increases.

I imagine the people who purchased the console are aware of the game prices, yes.

I’m saying that the pricing scheme Nintendo has for the S2 ecosystem is not conducive to pushing volume. This is evident to my other comment from talking to my local game store. Console demand is high, while games, accesories and controllers are not. If the average consumer’s S2 library goes over 10 games average for the lifetime of the console, I’ll be surprised unless pricing changes. The people who have purchased a S2 are holding back on other purchases that usually accompany that purchase. The people who haven’t yet purchased and who will not purchase are likely aware of the prices as well. My rural local TV station ran 2 stories on price increases. Even if not all games are $80 each, the preconception is there for quite a few people that all S2 games are $80 each no matter if you’ve purchased a console or not.

I don’t think that $80 price tag that’s causing this. There are no new retail games at this price currently other than Mario Kart and anyone interested got a bundle. Zelda rereleases make 0 sense to buy retail, I got a used copy of Switch release and Nintendo Online + or whatever it is called at half the price.

My local game store said demand for console is high; MKW bundle being the most popular. The demand for games, accessories and controllers is not high. I can’t imagine that lack of demand to blamed on anything else other than pricing or uncertainty of the economy.

None of these games are $80

MKW is the only one. Even the next big Nintendo title (Donkey Kong) is going to be $69

I think they did it with MKW to up the value of the MKW console bundle (where you’d only pay $50 for the game) but we’ll see.

Most of the launch titles are old ports sold at full price. The article only references physical sales and again most of these games don’t even have game data on the cartridge which completely ruins the point of a physical release.

„Same game released on 7 different platforms across at least 2 generations of hardware not selling well among early adopting enthusiasts who probably bought it twice already. Analysts baffled.”

well… yeah. nobody wants to buy a full price game that they already own on steam that they got on sale 3 years ago.

why would they? the only people those games are marketed for are nintendo exclusive users who have no other game platform.

the world spins regardless of if nintendo decides to put out a new overpriced console or not. if they’re getting left behind, the world will continue to spin.
