A gaming community free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it’s price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don’t meet the system requirements, or just haven’t had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

What is it about Oracle of Ages that has you coming back consistently?

That sounds awesome! I never played those Zelda games, even though I’ve played almost every other game in the series. Guess I should give them a try!
I love ‘base building’ games. ‘Oxygen not included’ really does it for me. I tried Terraria but didnt get into it, missed the hype wave too much.
I also really like stardew
Super Meat Boy, for 10 years. I’m not particularly good, but it’s nice to try reducing some times on levels.
Early pokemon games. 1st n 3rd gen hit just right
Late response but : Hotline Miami and Tetris
Used to Speedrun Hotline Miami quite a bit since I loved that game.
Tetris is just the best game for me when I just want to kill a bit of time
For me, these games are, in order of release: Civilization IV, Dark Souls, Subnautica, and Monster Hunter World
Each of them scratches a different itch, and no matter what mood I’m in, one of these games is likely calling to me.
Simpsons: Hit & Run. It’s nostalgic and offers a surprising level of challenge. I usually do not finish it all the way though, because the missions get repetitive pretty quickly. The writing is pretty fun.
Recently, a guy on YouTube remade the game in Unreal Engine. It’s really fun to watch, but I am a bit sad that will never be able to try it myself.
Why won’t you be able to try it?
Sorry if prying
Recently been replaying this on my steam deck. Its surprising how many people are nostalgic for this one, such a good game considering what it was. Definitely deserves a remake / sequel
Absolutely!
Btw, pro tip for all steam deck users (or controller users in general): Pick the GameCube version with an emulator. The graphics are a little bit worse, but the controller support is way better.
Ive been playing stardew valley multiplayer with my family on and off every week for years. It’s just such an easy play and doing it with a group only improves an already great game
RimWorld
I have been playing since Tynan sent out updated version via a sendowl link. Just the sheer openess and customizability alone gives for limitless replays. Depending on mods and the dlc (that’s been added over the years) you can play a spafaring rogue like, colony management game, or fantasy world full of magic users.
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines brings me back for a playthrough every year or so. Amazing music and atmosphere, engaging characters, and different dialogue depending on the clan you choose, your humanity levels, etc.
Unfortunately for me, league of legends. At least once a year I’ll go back to it being my main game. Glad I don’t play rankeds anymore though.
Also Minecraft and Stardew Valley.
