in what way is buying a competitor not inherently anti-competitive?

If someone has a history of anti-competitive behavior, preventing them from buying competitors is perfectly logical

Nope. Wasted questions on animal/plant/mineral when that paradigm isn’t accurate enough for a machine I guess.

Seemed to understand alive vs not.

Now its just the kids aging into mario kart abilities, like my niece who just asked for this for her bday

I’m just here to enjoy all the new content and memes they hopefully make. I bet a bunch of my switch-only youtubers make some awesome videos about it

Probably ‘Talos Principle’. I still haven’t finished it though. A tier puzzle game for me. Maybe S tier by the time I finish!

do investors base their requirements for money on logical criteria or is just ‘more this year than last year’? It seems to me that publicly traded companies led by investors act like children failing the marshmellow test

The CEOs are all professional fall guys/girls at this point. Get the names of the shareholders /board members calling the shots and put them on blast, then avoid anything they touch.

Unity’s Chairman of the Board is Roelof Botha, basically a mini musk.

He also sits on the boards of MongoDB, Evernote, Bird, Ethos, Natera, Square, and Xoom - in case you want to know what he might shit up next.

Small businesses using Square are probably the likely target

steps down with a golden parachute, all the richer.

We need real consequences for greed that is ruining everyone’s lives.

Microsoft would kill Nintendo so quickly. I think they could do it in 10 years tops, shadow of its former self

I freaking hate that Zuk got Oculus. Made my first VR helmet freaking worthless. Forced a facebook account to play my games I already bought.

Just went ahead and shelled out for the Index after that, cause at least you know Gabe isn’t fucking around.

If I own shares through a vanguard index, can I vote in each of those companies?

If so, how?

Someone could make a tool to make it quick and easy

Unity had made their plans clear. Whether they backtrack a bit now or not doesn’t matter. We know what direction they are heading: squeeze more money out of indie devs

because conservatives believe everyone thinks like them and are just scared to admit it

just need to preserve this line because its so spot on

The idea that you can control capitalists with ‘your wallet’ is flawed. Its never worked that way. Capitalism is controlled by regulations, or its not and you get crony capitalism.

Same I’m trying to keep this energy. It’d be nice to have it now, but it’s also nice to have it to look forward to.

Eh it has so much more production wise than journey though… I love journey, it’s a one of a kind play experience… but everything is minimalistic. Stray is the opposite so chucking them another 15 bucks to cover character design and animation, level design, voice acting, etc doesn’t feel too bad to me

+1 for God of war ragnarock, no ps5 here so I’ll be waiting for steam release. I just played the prequel this year anyways so I can wait

I finally got one and played it this summer, worth the wait for sure

I picked up the Talos Principle - not done with it yet but enjoying it, reminds me a little bit of portal with just less polished art direction

This one seems to make even hardcore gamers hate it with difficulty. Seems similar to rain world a bit? I own rain world but have barely played

I’ve played both.

Obra Dinn is better for me, but I enjoyed both

Have you played Return of Obra Dinn? Also Inscryption, the creator is half mad

OMG TF2 is back? Did someone reboot the universe lately? Federated social media, old memes, TF2. Something is afoot.

oh my boss felt entitled to this recently

they point blank told me they needed me in the office because ‘they owned the building’ (read: they think they are entitled to use their employees time and resources to prop up the value of their commercial real estate)

they also spent the time during the pandemic installing a giant paid cafeteria, so they were hoping to capture some of that lunch revenue I mentioned for themselves, or the company they sub-contracted with

(yes, I did quit, get a new job, and a raise)

I work remote and do see that money. Let me explain how:

  • I save money on car maintenance, gas, and business attire.

  • I save money on food by eating at home or eating in my neighborhood instead, which adds value to my neighborhood and creates businesses in my neighborhood instead of my bosses

  • I save roughly 2 hours of getting ready / commute time per day, and time is money.

What’s wild is that my boss ever felt entitled to all of that for their benefit.

This is why everyone should take steps to protect their privacy. You don’t have to go 0-100 overnight. Just audit yourself and do a few things now. Keep those habits up. Then audit and add a few more things, repeat.

I need to do this myself, I’ve been slipping

Came here to say similar. I hope this is a sign of some new hardware on the horizon. Though I’ve loved my switch!

I seem to be on a 3ish year lag, although for big big titles that my friends also play I buy at release so I can be part of the initial hype train (for instance, I bought Zelda:TOTK and played as soon as it was available)

Its just not the same trying to share about my korok torture machine in 2025.

Does Logan Paul still have fans? Who are they? I thought this guy wouldn’t last past his fans turning 18

Yeah I think that was the first game I ever played by this developer. Love their style. I mustve just been busy or strapped for cash when Transistor hit. Then when I saw it go onsale before I thought it looked a bit like a bastion clone, so didnt pull the trigger. Thanks for tipping me over into buying it!

Love overcooked 2. Just be able to laugh at your mistakes!

thats a solid pitch, I’ll haveta check this out. Love a reviewer with high standards

Oh I have played a ton of Hades. Hades II will be a game I pick up when it comes out. No idea how I missed transistor

I ended up grabbing transistor and into the breach. I’ve had a beer too many to be any good at into the breach ATM, but loving transistor so far

I love a chill / positive vibe so this one is going on my short list to check out

I am tempted to buy transistor - is it pretty similar to Bastion? Pyre was amazing, but Im not sure if I need another straight forward RPG style game. Does it have some kind of unique hook?

Into the Breach, Talos Principal, and Ori also look interesting. Although they’re all slightly different than things I usually play so not sure.

What are your favorite podcasts, video content creators, etc for gaming content?
I'm looking for some recommendations for things to listen to or casually watch to stay 'in the loop' on the standout games of the year, hear discussion of good games in general, feed my video game fan soul but not just about the newest latest thing. I figured this group might know of good spots to look. What are your favorites?
