Being trans isn’t about sexual orientation, and people can make their games about whatever they want. Let people enjoy things, it’s ok if it’s not for you.

But they have influence on the games I do play (and spam the forums too). They don’t let us enjoy by forcing their gender (and sexual orientation) into games where it does not belong to. Mind you, I am not talking about roleplaying games where it makes sense, like Cyberpunk.

Your arguments fall apart immediately. Every. Single. Person. that buys games influences the ones that are released, and others are allowed to have opinions too and their perspectives included. And be real: no one’s “spamming” forums, you just don’t want to hear from anyone with a different world-view.

They don’t let us enjoy by forcing their gender (and sexual orientation) into games where it does not belong to.

Absolute nonsense, no one’s keeping you from enjoying whatever you like. And the developers made the game they wanted, nothing is being “forced in”. Did you know that you don’t have to play games you don’t agree with? I genuinely feel bad for your snowflake-ass. It’s clear that LGBTQ+ folks existing is too much for you to handle, and you miss the days where they were forced to hide who they are. Life is about change and growth, but you’re choosing to remain bigoted and angry…

The only people I’ve seen “spam the forums” are people whining about “DEI” and “woke” (source: like, 90% of the game discussion forums on Steam). Coincidentally, most of the ones that aren’t “just asking questions” have exactly the same “they’re forcing it on us” language, and you’ll have to pardon me for immediately finding that language suspect.

No one is forcing a gender on you. No one is forcing a sexual orientation upon you. Only assholes that think conversion therapy is a valid thing think that’s okay. Frankly, it’s REALLY weird that you parse it that way, versus “these people exist, so of course they’re in games”. Are you bothered by characters that aren’t the same race as you?

Hey there. I don’t know of anything that would lead me to agree with you, but I’d like to understand where you’re coming from when saying that gender / sexual orientation is being forced upon you. I’d appreciate it if you could provide some examples where you consider that this is happening. I’m not a troll, and I’m not here to make fun of you. Not only would it be extremely childish of my part, but I also think the Internet and the Lemmyverse can be used for more productive things. Perhaps it can even be used for us to learn new things together…? If you prefer to talk via DMs, I can do that too.

Yeah most people are not here to discuss and are toxic, that’s why I don’t answer to most.

I am not saying the sexual orientation or gender is forced on my, but rather for games where it does not matter should not be a factor of deciding how the game is made. What I mean is in example Marvel Rivals, people want trans characters added to it. And that has implications for gameplay and such. In example there are very popular characters from Marvel universe that could be added and needed too, in specific gameplay features. But if the gender is a deciding factor, then it affects gameplay decisions of developers.

Or in games like Zelda, people want a character where you can set the gender. But this has huge implications for the story and also requires lot of work for no real benefit, other than your gender being different. Nobody should care in games about your personal gender, its not about you.

And on a personal experience in the forums, what’s really bad is, if developers don’t do it, then those people get toxic and attack everyone in the communities for not doing it. Also spamming at every post about this, even if its offtopic.

However I can understand asking for this in games where you roleplay you as a character, or even if there is a character creator. Especially in games like Cyberpunk it makes 100% sense to include these as options. So I am not talking about those kind of games.

Hey there,

No one said you had to enter this thread. Ignore it if you don’t want to participate in the discussion. Don’t force your opinion on others. Queer folks aren’t going to feel safe in this space if you kick down their door and tell them to shut up.

For the record, I am not doing what you say. You either didn’t understand my comment or whatever the case is here. I am saying that your or others gender should not be a factor deciding how games are developed. The mod log of removed content, in case someone believes what you said. So don’t tell people I was forcing my opinion on others: https://beehaw.org/modlog?page=1&actionType=ModRemoveComment&userId=442071

reason: “games where it doesn’t belong” you don’t get to decide what an artist does with their art

Oh yes, I decide where it does belong to. As much as you decide what opinion I have and remove my comments. I can decide for myself where it belongs.

Please, feel free to explain what you meant.

Yes and you’ll see my removal comment states “‘games where it doesn’t belong’ you don’t get to decide what an artist does with their art”. This was true. This is true. Your statement above is clearly dictating that gender should not be a factor (or sexual identity, or frankly any other identity such as race or ability). If an artist decides it should be a factor, then that is up to them. You don’t get to dictate what the art should be.

But you have influence on the games I play and force your gender and sexual orientation into games where it doesn’t belong.

Since when is providing an option or a character existing forcing anything on you? Why are you in favor of less choice in games?
