Would not be opposed to Toni Kroos getting it, though he’s probably a long shot. Would be interesting to see it given to a retired player. I would like him to have one for his career, but might be hard to argue he deserves it for this year.
Rodri is surely the favourite, I think? Extremely dominant in his position, led Spain to the gold. Arguably the best player at the tournament.
Otherwise Vini Jr, I guess? Maybe Haaland is in with a shout?
I’m unabashedly biased against Real Madrid so Rodri would be my pick too. I think Vinícius’ performance for the national team might cost him.
Hopefully Haaland gets it next year, but wasn’t his performance “underwhelming” last year due to injury?
Yeah that’s true about Haaland. I think i forgot about that injury and had a bit of recency bias going after the PL opening. Plus historically, whenever there is a year with a major tournament it’s highly likely to be someone prominent in that tournament, so I really do think it will be Rodri.

Crazy but not surprising. He will win the Kopa for sure, but not idea who takes the Ballon d’Or. Any favourites?
