Benzema is already considering retirement and will return to Real Madrid. The Frenchman does not even rule out his farewell to football next May and not in 2026 as Al-Ittihad, his current club, thinks. He has already agreed with Madrid about his return as an ambassador.

Hello,

It has been a week, how long do you think we should keep this poll?

What are game intros you associate with staying up past the sunrise?
cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/29503020 > Could be a console startup, title screen, intro cutscene, etc. I just got wired off an energy drink so I apologize in advance if this post is unhinged. > > I personally associate it with Kirby Super Star's intro, the Sega CD boot screen (non-US, I associate the US ones with Christmas), and the original Xbox startup.

Hello,

The issue is that we don’t have that many admins. As you can see from the activity, the interest on that topic is quite limited. Having a single community now seems enough.

The one team community I know of is [email protected]

PSA: Lord of the Rings - Return to Moria is free until December 19
I just tried it yesterday with a friend. Survival/crafting game in the LoTR universe. Okay for an evening, not sure we'll spend much more time on it, but for what we paid, it was definitely fun. Completely noob tip: hammers are not considered weapons, only swords are. Learned that the hard way when we spent all of our iron on hammers to discover those were only used to build, and not attack.

Yamal is a great player.

No sure associating the black skin colour with burning was necessary

I wanted to boycott the Qatar WC, but I still watched a few of my country’s game. It’s hard to miss this kind of events.

Also FYI, it seems you pinned this post on https://lemmy.world/c/football, but probably because you did it from a remote account, it is not pinned on https://lemm.ee/c/[email protected] nor https://sopuli.xyz/c/[email protected]

Again, another argument to move to an instance where all the mods have local accounts

but they aren’t the only one seeing thumbnails fail intermittently.

Indeed, but their case is quite worse, and I know this first hand because lemmy.cafe was my main instance for a few weeks, before I had to come back to this alt as the issue was preventing me from seeing most of the thumbnails. Sopuli is fine, and also running on 0.19.7.

My point though is that an instance having an issue at a point in time isn’t a reason to discount it.

Indeed

All instances have issues occasionally.

Yes, but the main difference is how long it takes them to resolve those. Programming.dev is a good example, if you look at [email protected], you’ll see a lot of posts from 2 months ago when the update to 0.19.5 corrupted their database, and now they have quite a few large of their communities that cannot be accessed from the community page.

The issue has been on-going for 2 months, with the single database admin expert getting support from other members, but still unable to fix it. If I were to migrate a tech community today, I might not consider programming.dev due to this reason.

We all know that everyone here is a volunteer, but you still want the instance you choose to be stable, and issues to be resolved “reasonably” quickly. That’s why I’m always impressed with lemmy.zip reports, it shows a level of dedication to their instance that you don’t always see elsewhere.

Lemmy.zip, lemmy.cafe and lemm.ee all run 0.19.7

You have the link above to lemmy.cafe not showing the thumbnails.

Lemmy.zip and lemm.ee are fine

So this is instance-specific, the admin acknowledged it when I brought it up

FYI, lemmy.cafe still has an issue with pictures, you can see it on https://lemmy.cafe/?dataType=Post&listingType=All&sort=TopDay

The admin is investigating, but no success for the last 10 days

Hello,

Thank you for chiming in!

I also recall we advertised for more mods recently and didn’t get much response, so really what we need is a very active mod willing to build up this community.

Indeed, I didn’t volunteer as I already mod quite a few. Also, active members can help building the community without having to be mods.

If moving to another instance is the best way to do that, great.

Cheers!

We would definitely have a pinned post with the new community. I can even ping you there if we move

[Meta] Could we consider moving this community to another instance?
Hello everyone, There has been some discussions lately about the moderation of some LW communities (see [email protected] for details) Which made me think that we currently don't have any active LW mod, the only remaining one being @[email protected] So why would we not consider moving this community to another instance? For people curious why moving the community to another instance would be beneficial: - LW has a 7-days delay with instances like aussie.zone (https://feddit.uk/post/18336398) - Having most of the instances on LW give a lot of power to the LW admins and mods, while spreading them out could be more ideal from a power distribution perspective - Previous communities have already migrated successfully, like [[email protected]](https://lemmy.world/c/casualconversation) Instances option - https://lemm.ee/ is nice, good uptime, skilled admins, and very low defederation list - https://lemm.ee/legal - https://status.lemm.ee/ - https://lemm.ee/post/401063 Alternatively, https://lemmy.zip/ is very well run They regularly post very detailed updates on [email protected] such as this one: https://lemmy.zip/post/27236300 They also offer very detailed information on those pages: - https://legal.lemmy.zip/ - https://status.lemmy.zip/ - https://grafana.lemmy.zip/public-dashboards/bac0acae9cd942f88a65b1a7c94503d2

Zlatan Ibrahimović: Playing for a club like Bayern Munich would certainly not have been bad, just because of the club's history and players. They couldn't have afforded me (laughs). But no, to be honest, there was never an opportunity to move there. It would have been nice but fate had other plans." **… whether young players today are less obedient and willing to accept advice from older players:** If you go back ten years, people probably said the same thing: "The new generation doesn't listen to the old generation." And if you look back 20 years, it would be the same. But young players should have exactly this self-confidence and mentality so that they can go their own way. You can't take away their character, ambition and vision. They have to be allowed to live out their lives and do their own thing. Of course, they should also learn - and that's what I see as my job: to guide them on their way with my experience as a leader.  **… whether he still sees no future as a coach:** Currently: Yes. I don't want to continue to be a coach because it's too much work for me. You have to cover so many areas, find ideas and solutions, prepare for and follow up on games, coach. You work day and night. A year as a coach would feel like ten years to me. So that doesn't appeal to me. **… about the development of football and the discussed loss of entertainment in the sport due to tactics:** This has less to do with football than with the coaches. Many coaches come with a philosophy and a style of play, and then the individual player becomes insignificant because everyone is forced into a tactic or a system. Of course, a coach's philosophies are important and you need him to manage the team. But I believe that the individual player is the most important part of the team. Because he goes out on the field and makes the difference. And in general, I don't think football is getting boring. In fact, I have the feeling that it continues to grow. You just have to be smart and not close yourself off to new developments.  **… about comparisons with Erling Haaland and whether a player could follow in Ibrahimovic’s footsteps:** Maybe it's the ponytail ( *laughs* ). I don't like comparing players because everyone is on their own journey and writing their own story. I had my era, played my way. He has his era now, plays his way. So there can't be a "new Zlatan". I did my thing, but I'm past my sell-by date. Erling Haaland is a great player and does a fantastic job.

IFAB going ahead with the new rule for GKs after trials in Malta and Premier League 2 were proven successful. It was accepted that refs and GKs were ignoring the 6 second rule. New rule: Ref raises hand after 3 seconds, then counts down 5 more seconds. Formal change expected for 2026/27 season

Hello,

Thanks for this post. Do you think they could be made weekly? The community is probably large enough to discuss things once a week

This break is killing me, I have sunk cost fallacy now
