Songs of Conquest if you’re looking at turn based 4X games.

And bitcoin will hit $1m and Google Stadia will be 80% of the gaming market and Lemmy will be bigger than Reddit and Tizen will overtake iOS and

I believe the N64 was huge in the US, Canada, and Japan, but PlayStation dominated that generation overall. I always preferred the PS graphics, the library, and the controller personally.

It’s kinda weird that the N64 seems to have a much bigger legacy. I think it’s because of Nintendo’s ability to make timeless games that are remembered more fondly than PS ones, but I would argue that games like Spyro, Tekken 3, GT2, and SotN aged just as gracefully as the N64 classics like SM64, Smash, Mario Kart, and OoT. Plus you can play them on a normal controller.

They always cite how much it costs to make the game as the reason why they should be more expensive to buy.

They’re not wrong, but the audience just isn’t swallowing higher upfront prices. The only way they’re squeezing more out is with DLC, battle passes, mtx etc. which only work in specific types of games that have already saturated the market. It’s kind of an impossible situation atm.

No, it looks amazing but by the time it came out I was already pretty over it. 15 years ago I would’ve been obsessed with it. I am glad to see it’s still receiving DLC though.

I used to love these games that were giant simulation sandboxes with massive scope where you start off as nothing and grind your way up to the top, whether by fighting or trading or crime or whatever. And I loved sci fi and fantasy settings. For whatever reason, I completely lost interest in all of that, and moved on to other hobbies.

I was so excited for this game in 2012. It was going to be the perfect hybrid of two of my favorites, Freelancer and X3. 12 years later, I barely even play anything except the latest souls game and the occasional grand strategy dad game that I’ll be obsessed with for a week and never touch again. What a waste.

Are you talking about MM? Can you explain what it is and why people don’t like it? I keep seeing it referenced but I don’t really get it.

Seems like people don’t think about it that way. Blaming “capitalism” for everything you don’t like is easy, but all it means is that these things exist because consumers want them. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be paying for it.

And if it were impossible (or infeasible), they shouldn’t be able to sell you a perpetual license knowing that it will expire when they take down the servers. If they are selling it as a service, there needs to be a minimum length of service specified. If the game is rendered unplayable before that date, the customer should be entitled to a refund.

As it is right now, you buy these games with a hidden expiration date. You could buy The Crew as late as December 14th, 2023 with no way of knowing you only had 4 months to play it. Those people don’t receive a refund.

What exactly is a promise from Facebook worth? You saw what happened to Palmer Luckey (although he is wiping those tears with crisp hundred dollar bills).

Unfortunately, it’s hardly surprising after CA had a few back to back underperformance on their yearly release schedule.

There was a lot of leaks coming out after the last round of layoffs about poor management, unpopular decisions from brand managers, and pumping out content at the cost of everything else. As I recall one of the former employees said something along the lines of “it’s just so frustrating because the fans kept telling us exactly what they wanted, and we did everything but.”

It’s sad that there’s no real competition in this specific micro genre of turn based grand strategy plus real time tactical battle simulator. But even without competition they managed to implode.

I’m super stoked for this game but it’s gonna be in Steam early access for 6 months to a year? Seems early to announce an indie metroidvania at a February Nintendo Direct if it might not even come out until 2025. Could even be a Switch 2 launch title.

I tried it first when I was too young to understand game mechanics or English.

Knowing English doesn’t help much in EYE tbh.

I can partly understand the frustration. If you bought a Series X/S instead of a PS5, you must have put some amount of faith in Xbox exclusives to make it worth missing out on Sony exclusives. Now, after an abysmal half-generation, it seems like Xbox is giving up on exclusives altogether. So what was the point in buying an Xbox? If PS5 gets all Xbox exclusives, then an Xbox retroactively becomes a really dumb purchase.

It’s a great game by all measures, but it really feels more like a sequel to the last two Divinity games rather than the Baldur’s Gate series. The only thing it really has in common with the old games is the setting, a few recurring characters, and the fact that it’s based on D&D. Otherwise, they are about as different as CRPGs can get.

If you want a spiritual successor to the old infinity engine games, look at the two Pillars of Eternity games and the two Pathfinder games.

Your concern is well placed. Better to enjoy it for what it is, essentially the next Larian/Divinity game. If you want a successor to Baldur’s Gate, it’s in the Pillars of Eternity and Pathfinder series.

I would say they have at least 2 good games (this and Crusader) but I agree. I’m getting really tired of seeing the same games over and over with a new coat of paint and shinier graphics.

So far been running at a solid 720p60 even capped at 6 watts. No bugs that I’ve noticed.

Halo Wars. It’s designed for gamepad and the campaign is pretty decent. Co op works well too.

The new overlay looks super nice.
