game was absolute trash when it was released but after a few years it got a lot better - these days i hop into it once a month or so just to screw around. it’s a fun time sink

also i5, but 9th gen - 32gb ddr4. previous gpu was a 970, now I use a 1650, both 4gb vram. havent had any issues myself, though I do need to decrease some gfx settings occasionally to improve performance.

PC standardization took a few decades but there were not many adopters initially (compared to the total population) - mobile is different, basically everyone everywhere has a mobile device, so standardization will likely be much faster

some traditional smartphone functionality would be useful for a kid - maps, for example. no idea if there’s a partially dumb phone out there.

I had a copy of DOS for Dummies. super helpful, the official manual for MSDOS 5.0 was really dry/uninteresting

using a moto g power now, works pretty well. really inexpensive.
