You could also drive an old hooptie with 300,000 miles on it and it might work for a period of time but don’t bitch at your mechanic when the engine finally gives out.

You’re throwing back “It just works.” at them because you failed to maintain a Windows VM that you haven’t updated in FIVE YEARS? Not to mention that you really expect game dev studios test and support running a game in virtual box??

If you want to do something tech savvy, that’s on you to do the tech part.

This has to be one of the most wild “gamer” complaints I’ve ever seen.

I have little interest in 3D Mario, but I loooove 2D Mario so yes.

What makes 3D so superior exactly?

That’s what makes this even more of an issue. The game isn’t procedural. They used procedural tooling but everything is set in stone now. They could’ve gone through and cleaned up and tweaked everything so it didn’t feel bland. Doesn’t sound like they did.

I knew the writing/rpg aspect was going to be shallow like all of Bethesda games but, they always had fun exploration so this is unfortunate to me. It sounds like they reuse assets a lot, even in the main quest line. Like same buildings with the same enemy placement just on a different planet.

Do yourself a favor and pick up Dead Cells. It’s absolutely amazing.

They’ve added so much content to it over the years but the runs are still like 30-45 minutes. The randomized items and gear are masterfully done. It’s like mini-diablo gear builds in 30 minutes, but better than recent Diablos. You get item synergies going etc.

The platforming/combat is snappy and satisfying.

It also understands what makes roguelike games fun that a lot of roguelite games miss. Each run feels different and new so it’s always exciting to start a new run.

Maybe not a touchpad, but I DEFINITELY remember adaptive triggers while playing Super Mario Bros on NES. It made the jumps extra fun. Also the gyro controls on the card game were really neat.

I wish they’d finally add other cool features to controllers since than rather than just the trackpad.

That’s why seasons are good though. I enjoy leveling up new characters. I don’t have much interest grinding for hours and hours and hours to level 100.

The sound design and music are beyond top notch. Really nails in the crazy apocalyptic setting.

The battery life on a Switch/Steam Deck would be horrific with AA/AAA batteries. Plus the reasoning for this legislation is to reduce e-waste, using AA/AAA batteries just creates more.

Yeah, gamers will definitely benefit greatly when GamePass becomes the only way to access certain new releases and they start upping the monthly price. This is every service subscription ever. Once they have the market lead they’ll be free to up price, offer shittier service etc.

I haven’t seen anyone mention Metal Gear Acid yet. Not sure how it held up but it was pretty memorable for me.

Frame pacing is a big thing. At 30 FPS you need to deliver a frame to the screen every 33.3333 MS. If the game is doing that consistently it will feel significantly better than a game displaying frames randomly at 30 ms, 33 ms, 36 ms. That could still average out to 30 fps but it will feel bad.

I imagine most console games probably use vsync or some kind of buffering to avoid screen tearing as well. If you’re not delivering your frames on time before that 33ms, it will get delayed to the next screen refresh and that’s when thing start to feel really bad.

Your only enemy is yourself. Just do it. And if you fail it’ll still likely be worth it. I had a personal goal when I was younger (music, not podcast). I failed. It sucks. But I don’t regret for a second. I met a lot of amazing people along the way and still ended up with a lot things I’m very proud of. I also learned a ton about life.

You just have to do it. Buy in. Go all out. There’s zero way it can be worse than doing nothing at all right?

I wish it would be standard in Western RPGs so we could finally have proper western rpgs again with real player choice.

I got it on PS5 on release, didn’t follow any hype leading up to it. I was just expecting Witcher 3 in a Cyberpunk world and that’s what I got. Great quest writing, interesting world. Only issues I really had were crashes every few hours.

I loved the game. Been wanting to play through with all the changes so I guess Phantom Liberty will be the time.
