Well… the “Pixar-like characters with stiff expressions” seems to be a stylistic decision, not a technical blunder.

Not photorealistic, realistic. So normal proportions, faces, textures etc.

Like I’d argue Golden Eye is a game with a realistic art style. It is as realistic as the technology allowed at the time. But it clearly tries to emulate the real world, and not a fantastical cartoony world or a woodcarved illustration, or anime etc etc.

The comment from the ME guy is probably in response to Dragon Age Veilguard being much more cartoony than Inquisition. Characters have huge heads, textures are flat and stylised etc.

I think he means as a style, they aim for a “realistic” style. Not that they will sacrifice anything for “graphical fidelity” or smth

Luddites were not anti-technology. They saw the progress of technology IN a primitive capitalist system and understood that technology would never benefit them, and always be used to subjugate them more.

If technology only benefits 0.1% of the world, and leads to the world dying, does it benefit humanity at all?

Cmon man… Sure it had issues, but acting like Cities Skylines didn’t completely revolutionise city builders is insane.

That’s not so true nowadays. Skilled factory workers already make a good salary in China nowadays. Like better than any other “global south” country at least. And by cost of living, better than the US probably tbh.

It’s basically the same as modding assets into the game. The game surely is built around being easy to put in new assets, it’s one of the main cornerstones of what made cities 1 popular in the first place.

Games like Cities don’t need that much dev work for assets to be placed in game. I’m sure the game was built with that in mind. That’s how there are so many assets and content to be downloaded in the steam workshop for Cities 1…

I completely agree, the price is pretty ridiculous and almost no one seems to be focusing on that.

The people who work on asset packs are artists… what the hell can they do regarding bug fixes?

For all saying the content pack is scummy, first the devs that work on things like this are not the same fixing bugs and issues, working on mod tools etc. Second, this pack is part of the Ultimate Edition, which plenty of people paid for already. It’d be really scummy to NOT release this in a timely fashion for the people who already spent their money expecting it.

I honestly don’t get the outrage at a freaking content pack that doesn’t affect anything at all…

Americans downvoting you, mad they are the bad guys.

What is your definition of working? I’d say communist revolutions have indeed worked. I base that on data, facts and the material conditions of places that had a revolution compared to countries in similar economic and geopolitical situations.

Cuba is doing much better than most Latin American countries. In most areas it’s doing MUCH better.

China is doing infinitely better than any other comparable country, like India. It’s not even a comparison.

The USSR was also doing much better than any country in a comparable situation when it did exist.

How did these revolutions “not work”?

Yeah sure… it worked great for Chile. Unless there is a wave of democratic socialism all over the western world, specially the US, all at the same time, it’ll just be squashed by fascism backed by the US and friends.

The only real solution that has worked before is a communist revolution. Like it or not.

I thought of another joke:

Ah so that’s what the kids call the “Sephiroth”? I always thought it was just a pretty man.

That’s true, Kojima was just supervising director on that game. But I feel the politics of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance are very typical for the series and Kojima’s games.

Metal Gear in general is very much about American Imperialism.

His games have good politics, that’s something 🤷‍♂️

Even if chuds completely misunderstand them (senator Armstrong etc…)

Lethal Company has literally one single person as the dev and Battlebit Remastered has 3. I don’t know why it’d be hard for game number 700 to also have a solo developer, or maybe two.

But 99% accuracy is better than any human alive, so while maybe LLMs won’t be able to substitute critical systems, they might just replace all the people around those systems.

Like, we won’t want an AI as the failsafe for a nuclear plant. But we might prefer an AI as the the “person” in charge of this failsafe.

The games that have impacted me the most I guess have been Fallout New Vegas (RIP Benny…), Mass Effect (the whole trilogy, but the first one in particular), and Bioshock. I guess this likely really shows my age lmao. As in they all came out at the same time, not that I’m particularly old.

Only dumbasses and entitled people would expect a brand new game to have total feature and asset parity to a game that had 10 years of updates, DLC and freaking mods.

I honestly feel confident CS2 will become a much more complete and better city builder than CS1. And from everything I’ve seen (haven’t played it yet), it’s already better in many ways. Like MIXED ZONING. That’s so major I barely care for anything else tbh.

Whaaaat? Capitalism benefits capital and not workers and consumers? Preposterous.

“These darn books are going to make all the youths dumb and forget everything!”

  • mostly paraphrasing, but fucking Socrates

Like we’ve literally been saying the same shit for over 2000 years. And your youths are never doomed…
