I don’t want to go conspiracy theory, but in my opinion it feels like a dark pattern to increase the time people have Bluetooth on. I believe they did the same thing with success for Wi-Fi. If I recall correctly, even when you are not connected to a device, Google can estimate your location based on what Wi-Fi networks you are in proximity to and something to varying degrees might work for Bluetooth as well which is why they also roll the feature over to the Bluetooth toggle
In terms of a long-term solution, if you have a lot of time and want to learn a new hobby, you could self-host Immich.
In the short-term, have you cleared cache or tried deleting and reinstalling?
I second this one.
Recently I’ve created multiple ‘rooms’ in Telegram w/o any intentions of adding another person. Each room has a theme so that my notes are segmented. Also I have access to Google Speech Services, so I moved away from voice recordings completely. Instead, I dictate my notes, which are automatically turned into text. Works for a couple paragraphs, but if I were taking recording work meetings, I’d probably use Google Recorder
I understand your concern, this is actually why I dropped Ecosia (because they got closer to Microsoft)
It’s worth mentioning that DDG has since distanced themselves from Microsoft after the blow back, so while Ecosia got closer, DDG (AFAIK from the documentation I read) no longer has any partnerships in place. I don’t get paid either way, so it doesn’t matter to me but just FYI

I hear you, but isn’t the proverbial horse’s head the fact that the EU is looming over them and forcing them to make a move?
RCS and USBC have been available for a while. It seems disingenuous not to acknowledge that Apple has purposely dragged their feet so they could make more profit selling proprietary software and hardware which is probably why you’re being downvoted

Adjust the config settings:
sendreceive The folder is in default mode. Sending local and accepting remote changes. Note that this type was previously called “readwrite” which is deprecated but still accepted in incoming configs.
sendonly The folder is in “send only” mode – it will not be modified by Syncthing on this device. Note that this type was previously called “readonly” which is deprecated but still accepted in incoming configs.
receiveonly The folder is in “receive only” mode – it will not propagate changes to other devices.
receiveencrypted Must be used on untrusted devices, where the data cannot be decrypted because no folder password was entered. See Untrusted (Encrypted) Devices.
I think you you have a much more limited perspective that doesn’t hold Google as accountable as many people. Here’s a snippet from an article breaking down the subtleties of the adjustments Google makes re: dark patterns:

Yeah that’s the part that is frustrating. It’s such an aggressive implementation of a dark pattern knowing the users muscle memory. It’s akin to suddenly switching the placement of ‘Accept’/‘Decline’ after years of being in the same place.
What surprises me is that it feels more like a money grab from a struggling app than the company in charge of ads across a large percentage of the world.
I vote for GrapheneOS too for privacy reasons
