If a developer doesn’t like those terms, can’t they just remove their game from Steam or never release it there to begin with?

If a user doesn’t like those terms, they don’t have to buy the game.

Developers and users are voting with their wallets every day and the votes say Steam is worth the cost.

And a 30% cut is high.

Is it? It’s my understanding that it’s comparable to what brick and mortar stores would charge to have a game on their shelves.

Also, anyone who thinks EGS will keep developer fees low if they had a higher marketshare is incredibly naive.

Nobody is forced to use any of those platforms.

You’re the one licking the boot of developers who just want to profit off of your stupidity.

AI can already write scripts on par with or better than most of what hollywood shits out.

Five Nights at Freddy’s, Minecraft, Roblox, Repo, Lethal Company, all look and play like they were made by AI. It won’t be long until users genuinely can’t tell the difference.

This is mostly due to the fact that audiences have no standards for the media that they consume.

It’s more nuanced than that.

It’s not, though. If people actually want to play your game, then Steam isn’t going to get in the way.

Look at MMOs. Look at fortnite. Minecraft. Roblox. Those games can succeed without Steam because people want to play them.

If a game can’t succeed without being on Steam, then Steam isn’t the problem.

Why are we defending a system where the fucking checkout system is valued as much as the people making the games?

You’re asking the wrong question here. You should be asking why you’re defending the developers who just want to make more money and don’t care about how it may impact the experience for their customers.

Gabe isn’t your friend and neither are the whiny/greedy developers.

You can buy a controller for your phone and have a more powerful emulation device without spending as much money.

alleges Valve “forces” game publishers to sign up to conditions which prevents them from selling their titles earlier or for less on rival platforms.

As always, these moves are being perpetuated by scumbags who just want to make more money without putting in any additional effort.

If Steam is worth releasing a game on in the eyes of the developers, then they have to pay the price to do it. If it’s not worth the price, then they are under no obligation at all to release their game on Steam.

Most games on Steam fail to gain any traction. If your game fails, it’s not because it isn’t on Steam; it’s because it’s a pile of shit and you’re not special because you made something.

This. It’s okay to be risque as long as the Disney/Apple crowd doesn’t catch wind of it.

As soon as they get on board, it’s all over and time to jump ship.

I’m so fucking sick of censorship and the morons that perpetuate it.

If you don’t want to see something? Fine. That doesn’t mean you should get to hide it from everyone else, though.

Copying != stealing

The laws are written so people richer than you can be even richer. Don’t support them unless you’re a useful idiot.

Because the designers were horrible people that only wanted to leech off of the free software ecosystem.

The people who went to business school made sure that we don’t have as much control over phones that we have over regular computers.
