Agreed. I should have said letting the anticheat THINK it has kernel access, the same way WINE makes Windows programs think they’re on a Windows machine. I know this is an oversimplification and frankly I don’t even know what kernel-level looks like, but there has got to be a workaround that doesn’t drain resources too much.

Why? I have written a lot of custom macros and created forms to assist filling data fields in large spreadsheets. I have written macros that can open a CSV, comb through the contents and pick out the data I need to fill workbooks.
I’m not saying I’m especially tied to VB itself, I actually find it to be a pretty stupid language, but I do miss being able to write my own functions and effectly use Excel as a pre built GUI for whatever I’m trying to do. If there’s an alternative in Libre Office that I’m missing please point it out.

That’s great and all but the two things that hold me back from going 100% Linux are kernel-level anticheat, and lack of graphics card acceleration in virtual environments. Once we have those I’ll be happy.
Visual Basic added to Libre Office would be really nice too, but I get that it’s not particularly feasible.

If they’re single-player can’t you just disconnect from the internet? I haven’t turned on my xbox in 4 years. I remember the day clearly: I wanted to replay Call of Duty 4 and the xbox told me I had to buy the new Remastered version in order to play. Bitch I already paid for the game, why would I buy it again?? Turned off, never to be seen again.

I’m happy to pay a premium for convenience. Steam is a great product that saves me from having 20 different store-fronts clogging up my computer, most of which wouldn’t have proper Linux support. If developers don’t like Steam’s terms of use then don’t use it, and best of luck selling your game that nobody ever sees.
Right! Can you imagine if Rembrandt had an executive committee behind him dictating what to paint a picture of, then micromanaging brush strokes? That’s the games-for-shareholders model, and it’s fucked. Games are best when made by people who are passionate about the project, not solely about the profit. My big hope now is the publishers learn from the Sony debacle and simply publish the game, be happy with their profit cut, and shut the fuck up.

If they enforced it from day 1 then you’re right, no one would have cared. At day 1 it would be upfront and everyone would know what they’re getting and far fewer people would have bought it. Enforcing it at day 40 or whatever is not cool. I, along with many others by the sounds of it, was looking forward to finally buying this game and now I won’t be. In general I am so fucking sick of good-sounding games coming along just for them to be fucked in one way or another, i.e., missing content, under developed/tested, broken promises, “we’ll patch it later”, etc.

I was disappointed in myself for buying it when it first came out. I hope there has been a LOT of patching, because at release it was boring AF. Especially coming from FO3 where dialog options and story branching actually mattered. In FO4 I remember purposely choosing the dumbest dialog options and the game just led me where it wanted me to go anyway.
This disappointment was compounded by me also buying Just Cause 3 at the same time… Holy shit what a garbage weekend that was. That was the day I vowed to never buy a game on presale again.

Fucking YAWN Yeah because everyone loves running around gathering shit for 10 minutes just to get jumped by a team and killed before you know what’s happening. There’s a reason why only the sweatiest players even bother with Apex any more.
How about putting some effort in to creating a good campaign and creating some good Multiplayer maps? Bad Company 2 is what you should be aiming for. BF3 was pretty good and it has all been downhill from there.

Perhaps this is a good place to ask now the topic has been raised. I have an ASUS TUF A15 laptop with an nVidia GTX 1650Ti graphics card and I am SO sick of 500MB driver “updates” that are basically beta tests that break one thing or another. What are the chances of upgrading to a Raedon/AMD graphics card? Or am I stuck with this shit?
This is the game that put me off preordering forever. I got it just as it came out and it was SHIIIIIIIIIIT. After starting the game I would get 15 minutes of “xXBlazeIt420Xx beat your score on (some shit challenge)” scrolling up the side of the screen. I’d understand if it just told me my friends had beaten me, but it felt like telling me the whole world had.
Then there was the memory optimisation… Start a flying challenge, fuck it up, restart… IT TOOK OVER A MINUTE to load back to the start of the challenge.
If that wasn’t enough, the world just felt empty compared to JC2. There were vast areas of nothing but fields between towns and it sucked. I put it down a week after buying and never picked it up again.
