There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Fr they could at least patch it to allow custom servers

Yeah, but that was back in 2002.

I’d be so down for that. I need to play the original first.

Have you tested Control with the most recent update? I think minimum system requirements went up.

True, but the point was to use this particular HDD for gaming.

I don’t want to store things I care about on a drive that old in case it dies. Steam games are a different story. I can just redownload them. I have plenty of storage dedicated to media as it is anyway.

Yeah I know, thing is I have a lonely, sad 1TB HDD from 2008 that somehow still works and I thought it would be a shame to not game with it. I want it to spend its final years gaming with me. I know, I’m weird. Once it dies, I’l probably get a SATA SSD. I have an M.2 SSD but it’s almost full.

I heard Subnautica runs like ass on a HDD. I haven’t tested it myself though.

I was playing Layers of Fear but noticed very occasional stutters when entering new areas, especially when certain visual effects appear on screen. I’m thinking it’s probably just a bad port. Otherwise, very playable. If you’re not familiar it’s a Unity game from 2016. In general I’ve had good luck running indie games on a HDD.

Is a HDD still useful for gaming in 2025?
Like obviously not for newer cutting edge games but for newer indie games and older AAA games?

Today I learned I played the game wrong

I’m using Fennec which is pretty much the same thing so that tracks.

What browser were you using? I had the same issue.

This is before my time but I remember reading about a canceled movie tie-in game for Star Trek: First Contact.

You could always reinstall Windows if something does go wrong. Just create an installer USB as backup.

The reason I switched from Windows is the telemetry. Yes, you can disable it but I don’t know for sure it’s actually off. I’m sure it has other back doors too. It sucks because they had something great with Windows 7 and they ruined it. Also, forcing an online account really pissed me off. I couldn’t even install WSL without using the Microsoft Store. Funny enough, the complaint I remember most about Windows 11 didn’t bother me at all. The start menu being in the center I kinda liked. I remember using an app on Windows 10 to achieve the same thing.

I’m glad it’s working out for you. I’ve never realky worked with .zip files larger than 8gb but I have some tar.gz folders that are 80-90gb in size. I haven’t had to unpack one yet tho.

Definitly PC for the win. I have several controllers. The game I’m playing is mouse and keyboard only sadly. I get it, indie game developers have limited resources to work with. I’m forcing myself to use mouse and keyboard and its going better than I thought it was. The game is good so far.

I use a mouse and keyboard for everything except gaming. I hate using my phone. I use to play basic keyboard and mouse games when I was a kid but it’s been a very long time. I actually started my game tonight and after adjusting my mouse sensitivity it’s easier than I thought. Hitting left shift with my pinkey to run kind of sucks but oh well. Still slightly cumbersome but I think I can get used to it. I’d still rather use a controller if given the option but I think I can manage. Thanks!

It probably does because Mint uses less CPU than Windows. That’s just speculation on my part though.

I’m actually trying an indie horror game called DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark because my controller won’t work for some reason. I have been reccommended Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart before. Maybe it’s a sign to play the game.

Thank you, I will try adjusting the sensitivity and playing around with it a bit. I’m not using Windows so I don’t know If I have mouse smoothing enabled. I’ll look into that. I’m with you on the desk space. I don’t have alot of it.

How do I get used to using a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller?
Is there some sort of secret? No matter what sensitivity my mouse is set to I seem to get stuck when turning. On a controller I can turn completely in a circle, but not with a mouse unless i'm missing something. I'm willing to accept that I might be an idiot. But seriously how to people do it? It just feels so unatural. Sorry if this is a dumb question, because I think it's a dumb question too.

Who here played Wanted:Dead?
I just beat the game on the easiest difficulty. That was still pretty fucking hard. The game was so fucking weird, and I mean that in a good way. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I liked it but I wasn't super impressed with the gameplay. All in all, I'd reccommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale.

The game runs surprisingly well. You can download the DRM-free version of the game from [BioMedia Project](https://biomediaproject.com/bmp/play/retail-games/bionicle-heroes/). The files are hosted with the permission of the LEGO Group. The only fix I did was enabling widescreen support with modern screen resolutions. The instructions for that are [here](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Bionicle_Heroes#Widescreen_resolution).

Are souls games really as hard as everyone says?
I want to play Bloodborne because quite frankly it looks really cool. I'm told the game is going to be way too difficult for me. I usually play games on standard or easy difficulty. Should I even bother? Is this game even going to be playable to a noob like me?
