I started playing Control a couple of weeks ago and I’ve found it to be a lot of fun so far. I’m currently at the power plant so I may not be to the frustrating point yet. I definitely see your point about getting lost. Even with all the signs and the map it can be difficult to navigate at times, though it is becoming a bit easier as I am more familiar with navigating the game.
I am about to reach that point with Resident Evil 4 (2023). I’m at one of the first levels in the village and I’ve spent probably two hours trying to get past this one level, only to die every attempt so far. I think I’m up to at least ten attempts now and it’s driving me nuts.
I’ve been playing a bit of Diablo IV and it has been pretty fun. It’s the first game I’ve played in quite a while with my brother. He has quite a bit more time in the game than I do so it has been nice having him show me around the game and how everything works. We had a good laugh when I was level 23 and didn’t realize that the potions could be upgraded. I was wondering why they seemed so weak. After he told me how to get those upgraded I have been dying a lot less. I like how much easier it is to compare items compared to Diablo II, and not having to keep a stash of town portal scrolls in my inventory is a nice change.
Really glad to see someone say Earthbound. I love that game and have really enjoyed sharing it with my kids. I started them young on it while teaching them to read. I’ll sit with them and narrate the game and it really helps them a lot with learning to read. Just got to Happy Happy Village with one of them the other day.
