I don’t think there are many people who like the game now who didn’t originally.

Based on? Because even in 2022 they were selling well. TL;DR: They cleared ~$50mill in revenue on a game with no DLC. So I’d be very curious where you’re getting your information from, as that clearly shows they are still selling units.

It’s not a game for everyone. Some people went in expecting Eve Online or Star Citizen (what a finished Star Citizen would look like). Instead it’s a 3D Starship Omega with a touch of Minecraft. but I liked Starship Omega so I liked No Man’s Sky.

I never said it was for everyone or anything about expectations.

It regularly has 10-20k concurrent players on steam despite being 8 years old. Almost 50,000 after the most recent update.

People are clearly not as underwhelmed as you think. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean your opinion is the dominant one.

I completely agree that the game is a lot of breath and not a whole lot of depth in many respects, but that really doesn’t change anything. It clearly pleased a lot of people. Go see the reviews if you doubt me.

Nobody said it was “fundamentally different.” It’s just been iterated on heavily and original promises have been delivered and more. It’s not the same game at launch at all.

When was the last time you actually played it?

Not liking it is not the same as not delivering. The game is exactly what they set out to make from the get-go.

That being said at launch they absolutely did not deliver and deserved to be shamed. Though certainly not harassed like they were, unfortunately

I know it’s mentioned every time they come up, but man, what an unbelievable 180 NMS pulled off since launch

I think the writing is fine and have some major notes tbh, but damn if the Operation: Enduring Victory reveal and summary discussion among the generals wasn’t jaw dropping. Aloy is a joy to watch too. Great dialogue sometimes, just overall a fun character.

I mean…the first one sold 24mill and was a must-buy of the PS4 era. It reviewed and sold well. The IP has legs even if FW didn’t perform as well. Maybe you hate it but I at least enjoyed the first one. I plan on playing FW when I am in the mood for an open world next 🤷‍♂️

Why are you so angry about this game? You seem to have a real axe to grind.

Sadly FO1 plays terribly on it if you don’t have a mouse and keyboard, and the resolution/display settings get borked all the time

Devs should be focusing on their next project and celebrating the triumph that is DE. It’s heartbreaking to see everything unfolded in the years after its release.

I get that normally but my point is…can borderlands still be considered a successful franchise in 2024?

BL2 was 13 years old and it’s never hit those heights since. Each mainline release has performed poorly or mediocre and TFTB has been pretty well received but they weren’t huge releases like the main games. They’ve been sort of irrelevant for almost a decade, limping along to middling applause lol

BL3 did well financially for the most part but that was what? 5 years ago? And critically it did poorly/had no staying power. It died pretty quickly.

Yeah no one has been excited for it in years. It peaked a long time ago. Pre-sequel was a disaster, 3 landed with a mediocre thud, tales has a following but it’s modest. This is not going to go well.

I just don’t understand why this is even being made. Borderlands is definitely nowhere on my list of games I want adapted. I understand I am not the arbiter of what gets made into movies, but it definitely feels like a shared sentiment among the general gaming population lol just feels like a bizarre choice

Wtf is this title. “Octopath Traveler now available on Xbox and PlayStation” is normal. This is SEO to its illogical extreme.

Who the hell puts a semicolon in their title?

Edit: I’m an idiot

That’s actually lower than I thought it’d be. I sort of assumed it hovered in the 3-4% range. No clue why I did though lol
