Statistically speaking, if the other 96% of normal people who play games of that genre couldn’t be asked to play it, what percent of the 4% would be any more interested?

And as a pretty long term linux user, any good game I care to play so far has had no need to market to my small demographic. Not using shitty practices rampant through AAA basically guarantees it just works under wine, it’s incredible really.

Also as someone slowly building a game, that won’t be a demographic I’ll explicitly market to. Linux support is necessary as it’s what I use, but also as a result of using open source software. Godot is the engine I picked as it was the most prominent FOSS option at the time, and turned out to be a damn good pick.

My point is, normal people don’t care about Linux, they just want something that entertains them. AAA continues to get more greedy and cut their deliveries, people who like games will feel more burned and start looking around.

If this can be a guiding light to Linux or whatever, then that’s great. But the people who care about that sort of thing have to make sure there actually are other things to look to, by the time Linux desktop user share reaches 5% (maybe).

Gramps needed his excel icon - on the monitor I might add - or else. Debloat and activation scripts got him his windows 7 and office 2007 experience back, he was very appreciative of my “hack”, merely for the same experience he paid for back some 15 years.

He doesn’t know what a “Linux” is, but I am greatful that people are still invested enough to make utilities to return back to a more user centric experience in windows - even if I certainly don’t care to go back

From what I understand, when such anticheats are configured for Linux, they’re still running in the user space and is why some developers go as far to disable support for Linux entirely.

You, the privileged user, unless logged into the root user (not recommended), are part of the “sudoers” group, which allows you to execute commands on behalf of the root user using the “sudo” command which requires your password. Games should never need this to play.

This however doesn’t mean the AC is sandboxed, its honestly beyond my knowledge exactly what it does have access to, but I can say it is far less than what Windows kernel AC has. And again why developers feeling the need for such intrusion simply pull away from linux

I just use YouTube on Firefox on mobile, it does pause when you change apps but you can press play from the notification or lock screen, ublock origin also works here
