… I’m imaging the natural extreme conclusion to this. There are 16 sequels to masseffect and you need to research which games you need to play before you play the newest one. This also leads to conflicting cannon and infighting

Wanna know some evil shit?

Knew a kid who had siblings all close in age. Their Parents didn’t want for money at all, but still bought only one gameboy to share between the siblings. That’s just stupidity on the parents’ part, to the point of total lack of self preservation!

IE they introduced something to cause conflict instead of spreading it out and causing peace for everyone.

Ok you called me out on a very specific flaw and consistent failure of mine! I have some weird wrong pronunciations they can lead then to wrong spelling and it has nothing to do with misunderstanding the context or whatever and just… my brain tends to read the shape of a word and that leads to problems if it isn’t a word I hear often.

Thank you for your kindness and context and I think maybe that will help me not make the mistake in the future! At least after I play the game at least lol

Thank you so much! I will just dive into that after I finish my current game and not worry about needing established lore or backstop. Just started a quickie and unique game called Get even. Gameplay is kinda like the detective line of Detroit become human. Enjoying it so far.

I’ve been hearing about dues ex forever though and I’m ready and looking forward to being able to understand the pop culture references and conversations now. Thanks for the reassurance and confidence

dues*** ex and disco elysium : and ps plus catalog discussion
***Edit: deux ex So I have access to the ps plus catalog. I'm really excited they have disco elysium the final cut, and dues ex mankind divided My brain has muddled these two awesome franchise pop culture knowledge where I feel like I'm more or less able to go into either blind and I wanna preserve that! The thing is it's not really clear to me for either title if I'd be playing a sequel (or something that is better enjoyed with prior context) So I guess my question is for these two games, what should ideally be the order placement? Even if I just watch a yt essay on a previous game I don't have access to just to have some good groundwork context. I also am curious what games you discovered that is available through similar subscriptions. Were you pleasantly surprised? Just meet average expectations?

I literally read all day, this would be fantastic. Books. Visual media has subtitles and usually is something I’m gonna Google further while watching/playing. I mostly consume text based social media and news.

… fuck I think I just want a newspaper

Oooh that sounds fun too now I’m even more excited to try it! And luckily I have no shame googling puzzle solutions if I’m stumped

Oooh, and that’s also on sale for $4 right now! Thank you!

I’m waiting for persona 3 remake and p5 tactics to go down because those games always seem to eventually be on sale for around $20 after ~12-24mo and I’m behind enough on games it is worth saving the $40+

Thank you! It’s actually on sale on playstatiom for $5 or free with ps+ extra so I am definitely going to check that out!

Oh that said I haven’t played half life yet and will once I have a computer. Should I also lower my expectations cuz that was also a Big Deal I haven’t gotten the opportunity to play yet!

I genuinely preferred vanilla! I couldn’t elaborate on why, especially avoiding spoilers, because my memory is too hazy. However I do think I’m in the minority I’m just giving you my support you’re not alone if you didn’t feel the same. Have you had the chance to play p5 strikers?

Honestly depending how far you are in royal, you might even enjoy royal more if you take a strikers break in between. Strikers follows vanilla ending anyway.

I just finished portal 1 & 2 for the first time! I was let down on the lore and story. I think if you were around on the internet when portal 2 came out in particular, you might understand. It just had so much reference in pop culture without explanation, i expected there to be more once you had context. I was let down.

That said DAMN these are excellent and fun games that are accessible to any player. The games are designed with fantastic visual clues to help you understand new puzzle elements. They are fun, not challenging to a frustrating degree, and the game is structured where you really can just play a bit before dinner or something.

I’ll be finishing up Shin Megami Tensei V this week. This is my first “smt” title, persona 5 was my introduction to this franchise and slowly working my way through.

I love the gameplay, managing teams and this is also the first game I’ve played where you’re really supposed to use the items liberally, the items to recreate spells is actually going to vary based on your stats instead of a fixed amount, so they are always helpful even late game.

The maps. The maps are a headache. It took me many days to find the entrance to an important location. It is frustrating but maybe it’s not my strong suit. I love playing it though, the fights don’t get boring and mobs can still be challenging if you aren’t paying attention.

Next I am going to finally play portal 1 and 2 because it is on sale for $7 on switch!!! I don’t have a PC and have been wanting to play for years!!!

And I somehow avoided all spoilers besides the meme. PORTAL BUNDLE ON SWITCH

I wish I was prepared for one of the game mechanics though. I won’t say more but it a chore for me, personally. It is amazing how much fans respect the game though it is hard to stumble on spoilers after all these years!

Hehe also reminds me of this scene from storks.

What this article doesn’t mention and I really don’t see talked about often is how a lot of these ftp games are also designed to mimic elements of slot machines with the graphics and overall user experience. The bright colors, clinking sounds, big text popping up saying you did great, the animations added with a little more dazzle and it’s all made to be very overwhelming on your senses.

THAT is the foundation of the games, step one, to keep you playing. Watch those ads and maybe spend money. The rest of it is targeting whales Frankly I hate this shit it makes me feel like I’m being treated as if I’m a child.
