Or then you type the next letter of the word and the result you want goes away, but only after you’re milliseconds from tapping it.

Rant: vanilla local app search is ridiculously bad
For a search company I can't believe how terrible the Android app search is. I can't even search "bank" for my banking apps, and there doesn't really seem to be any metadata except for the title that goes into the search. Which is absolutely ridiculous given how many companies name their apps something cReAtIvE like "home" or "Resideo" or "Smart Hq." I just want to search GE for the damn GE app. Or "thermostat" for Resideo. Surely there's something beyond surface level here because obviously this is an extensively solved problem. How is there not metadata or description searching at minimum? My only guess is fear of abuse but Google has definitely dealt with that for their entire existence and up until recently, managed to handle it fine.

Never explore the caverns. Got it.

I moved it outside and the big thing I noticed was that the weight limit goes way up, presumably since the cart is right there. Or my first few visits were unlucky, maybe.

Helldivers 2 CEO Breaks Ground with Innovative Metaphor of “Changing the Engines While the Plane is in Flight!”

Plus how many hours of fun is that dirt going to give you? Probably not 80!

Right, I thought we were just saying parts of the monster alert.

I’ve definitely been watching a few of those playalongs just to get ideas. And, you know, because hyperfocus.

Yeah, they definitely didn’t have my real reaction as an option. I thought this game was supposed to be deep and realistic, smh.

Did you just RTFM me? Or I suppose RTFW? 😂😅 (Thanks, I’ll read up there)

Yeah, and it’s not helping me interrogate witnesses when the names in the justice tab don’t match the names in the interrogation selector. I think I read there’s an option for that but couldn’t find it easily. The justice bit definitely has me a bit confused. I’m attempting to set guards up near the place it keeps happening in hopes someone will see something. Not sure if that’s the play, or if I should just try to outpace the vampire’s hunger and live with it lol.

How critical is outside? Mine is inside and it doesn’t seem to have caused problems.

I did say it’s my first playthrough, lol. Thus far my biggest enemy has been myself, and a hungry mysterious vampire.

I also made this meme before I even attempted to fight, and once I did, was pretty relieved at how easy the fight was. But without any context it’s an intimidating popup.

I’ve made it to year 4, I think, and 120 dwarves. I think I have a vampire somewhere in my fortress because we keep finding dwarves dead, drained of blood. 😅 And I may have reloaded a save from year 2, to build a wall, because I sorta kinda mined through a frozen river which then flooded my base in late spring that year.

Until now I've avoided almost everything to do with combat so I guess this is my introduction.

They turned Clippy into a game?

Hey there! Looks like you’re trying to release some dopamine!

I’ve learned lessons about assuming something that seems obvious.

Comes with a list of electricians certified to install the required dedicated 240v hard line.

Open source is the best. That doesn’t mean the recommendation to move off 60hz isn’t profit motivated. Especially when driving displays at over 60hz means selling more graphics cards since your older one may not go far beyond 60.

Unless you were in MBA school, at which point they’d hail you as their king.

Does it come with a paperboy mini game?

Funny because I just restarted a playthrough of this a couple weeks ago for no real reason other than it’s a game that runs well on my steam deck. That and I enjoyed my first playthrough.

Don’t dozens of games that old and older have better world gen?

Like Dwarf Fortress, which is old enough to drink in the US.

Kids. It’s kids spending their allowance. Source: had to clamp down and say no more robux.

And probably also streamers who aren’t spending their own money (donations and referrals probably) who make the problem worse by making it seem like everyone else has these pointless cosmetics.

Stopped it at 94% complete. Mission accomplished.

I’m so excited for this to release, and yet terrified that I’m going to lose another few hundred hours (per week?) to this game when I get back into it.

It’s not so much this article as it is all the articles I’ve seen and expect to see in the future about the ways it’s actually better despite Valve saying it’s not actually that much better.

True. And the limited translucent case is one of the most attractive things making it seem time sensitive, but they also made it easier to replace those bits this time around too, so I will have more personalized options later on.

My pure guess would be that the 90hz of the display is in play here. Could be the memory too, but the display is the most obvious potential lag factor.

Don’t do this to me. I don’t need one. I already have the OG. This is a losing battle for me, I can feel it now.

Brb gonna go put Half Life 3 in my LinkedIn profile just to stir up the journalists.

But look, guys, you asked for this by saying you want us to pay staff better. We will, but first we need to increase some prices heavily because I only took this CEO job because of the juicy bonus and I’m definitely not giving that up. Would you? And don’t forget the board we’re so lucky to have who need their stipends and stock grants etc, lest they find other companies willing to bow to their demands. We wouldn’t be who we are if we didn’t keep paying the top dogs top dollar.

As a dev, though not a game dev, I’ll wager good money this is not the outcome you’d find on a survey of the game devs involved. It’s the kind of thing that devs will suggest when asked “okay let’s say we need to make this next iteration as cheaply as possible now, what could we do?” But most of the devs likely take pride in their craft and if given the time would definitely want to optimize their game.

I asked Valve about how they might approach solving this problem if it was their game and they literally ran away from me while yelling something that sounded vaguely like “Modern Warfare Alyx.”
