Because I’m a Gamer! A Gamer! The most oppressed minority on the planet!

Said no one with 2 neurons to rub together, ever…

Except in OP’s whet dreams where they ride a white horse to battle to save all those oppressed by the moustache twirling evil aryan gamers.

edit: 10/10 chances this system evolved to render some VAs unemployed. Especially from a Microsoft studio.

My fault for throwing pearls to pigs.

Where’s the helldivers II crowd that caused a major fuss? This one is flying under the radar. Is it because Forza is just meh?

I gave you plenty of evidence, you just decided to ignore it because for some ungodly reason you attached your personal value to it.

70€ for a PC it better be better than just meh and deliver what was promised by the adverts. I work to have those 70€, if a company lies and overcharges, sure as shit it’s a 1. They advertised a completely different game than what was delivered. And this is after 6y.

You’re basically the equivalent to a Taylor Swift fan arguing with people who don’t equate her music to Bach or Brahms…

Literally the first dialogue with Garryck. It’s like it was Va’d by different people depending on your answers.

“That’s the imperial envoy you’re talking to, show some respect” - lol perfect deadpan delivery, emotional delivery is for losers.

And that’s before mentioning all the other missing perks of past obsidian games, like the interactivity of the world. It’s like a single player shooter stuck in an MMO world.

But good for you, you like it, all 4 of you.

Other than interacting with Kai everything else sounds like it was written by GPT3.o

It feels and plays like a game designed by an AI. Not bad, also not good.

Don’t know why they’re being downvoted, it fits the definition.

Oh wow, this is looking good. Cautiously optimistic, may actually be the first one I pick up since syndicate.

Can we cut the transatlantic data cables please. Tired of these culture wars spreading everywhere. They have guns, just shoot at each other and leave the rest of the world alone.

I hope it’s good, especially the writing and progression systems. The art will be not to my taste, as usual, Obsidian is into garish colorful shit to detach themselves from other brands, which makes it right at home in Grounded, but in a fantasy RPG… nevertheless, if the gameplay and writing are good, it’s definitely a play.

I call BS on this. This is only true if you include gambling proceeds like CS skins, etc.

Translation: We were successful into bribing our way into the development scene to have games be unoptimised, driving sales and margins up, thus pleasing shareholders. We’re still shit at making server blades and connectors though, as seen by the thousands of cancelled blackwell server orders in favour of the older Hopper, given blackwell is a fire hazard. Thank you regarded gamers for buying our low VRAM trash so we will never be made to pay for our fuck ups.

Edit: added sauces

Most of what you wrote is demonstrably false, one look at the grants CDPR submitted for EU support shows clearly that in 2016 the objective was to execute on animation and AI with current hardware. Moving to new hardware, substantially improved graphical fidelity with the rewrite of Red Engine to support NVIDIA’s RTX technologies but NOTHING was added to improve AI which is a testament that this had nothing to do with Sony or new console hardware. I don’t know who is paying you to rewrite history but whoever it is, I appreciate their support for a fedi platform astroturfing. Respect, fuck reddit. Your story is still pulled out of yer arse tho.

edit: and that is before even mentioning the Xbox one and Microsoft’s contractual parity of features between sS and sX… Why on earth would the game launch on Xbone if it was a sony thing… Jesus…

What are the chances the other half of the dev team had all the technical know how and prison just became a really convenient cover for a bait and switch of an EAG?

Np.

I think we’ll have to see what the Cheeto will do. With so much bribery going his way, I’d be unsurprised if he repealed Biden’s bans. Shit, I’d be unsurprised if he did it out of spite, no bribes needed.

The letter comes after the Biden administration introduced a three-tier licensing system for U.S.

It’s not football, there are no teams here. The Biden executive is perfectly capable of being shait without any intervention from the cheeto.

It always cracks me up, the dudebros buying 2k GPUs because MUH PCMR and then use framegen to play with console input latencies…

FML, we’re breeding intelligence out of the gene pool at speeds that threaten the survival of the species.

Fluff piece has the typical fluff piece inconsistencies. Chief among them, utter lack of disclosure.

The fact you’re downvoted for what is a legitimate personal experience is quite tragic. Lemmy should be better than reddit…

It was quite literally the reason why it hit 70k players, NVIDIA. cdpr, allegedly, got wads of money to become the tech demo for the green team, which made the red engine require an overhaul that killed its performance on old gen consoles. Nowadays it’s used as a benchmark. If you look at the player chart it peaked during CES and cratered back down to almost half of the 70k Tassi (aka mouthpiece) is touting. What really is a team worth exploring is how CDPR knowingly deceived millions of people, and thanks to the short memory of the Internet and (likely paid) puff pieces like this, has regenerated its image (and stock price) to a point that quite literally they got away with what they did and saw no consequences. It’s appalling that companies no longer pay when they cheat customers.

This is also a strong message on media literacy. There’s two main types of bait, rage and circlejerk, Tassi enacted the second with this puff piece. A real journalist, would have looked at the average player count of the last few months and used that, but no, “journalist” Paul Tassi chose to make a point from a blip caused by an event that EVERYONE could be aware of and, “journalist” Paul Tassi, should be aware of. This is so disingenuous that it becomes a master class on how media influences people with distorting information.

Edit: As another point, “journalist” Paul Tassi purposefully omits the genial Stardew Valley which usually clocks in close to double the playerbase of Cyberpunk (among over 10 single player games that overtake or compare, like FM, Don’t Starve, Terraria, RDR2, HoIIV, et al).

Didn’t you as a country sacrifice thousands of children just so you could keep your guns for this exact moment?

Maybe Wilds will be a launch game and Nintendo anticipated the release to capitalise on it? Dunno, just playing devil’s advocate.

“While some videogames have recently taken the opportunity to embed social or political agendas within their experiences, it is clear that many players do not appreciate this, and as a result, we have seen a number of high profile releases underperforming commercially during the last year alone,” Hill said. “Our games will always be developed to maximise player enjoyment and commercial success, and as such, we will not be integrating any social or political agencies into these experiences going forward having observed the high risk this can present.”

Talk about journos making a mountain out of a molerat… If it in fact was written by a “journo” and not an AI. To be fair, journo is a stretch, journos have journalism degrees, there’s very little separating “gaming journalists” from bloggers. (Schreier and the like being the exception)

Wait, but we had recently a feature from PMG on YouTube showing how a significant portion of the art of devs like the coalition and Naughty Dog being contracted to sweatshops in Asia. So basically game development budgets are to pay a handful of talented programmers and the friends of the art and writing department while sweatshops do the work. Mega lol, we have bay area entitled shitheads playing ping pong in the office and adoring Elon while costing millions while the people who do the work are getting abused across the planet…

Another episode in the series: “South Korea is a dystopian hellhole”

Not disagreeing but what was the legitimate purpose other than growing a platform with a popular game? You know, same as Sony.

Half Life required an account at a time no game required accounts. Most PC games of the 7th gen required GFWL, so much so, without piracy, many are unplayable today. Microsoft still does this I.E. Doom Eternal where you’re required to enter a Bethesda account or the absolute shitshow minecraft has become. Most rockstar games on PC of the last decade required rockstar launcher, including steam releases.

Other than GFWL, there has been very little pushback on these types of requirements. Funnily enough, sony is the last one to arrive and the one that gets the most pushback… People are weird.

I find this comment amusing because other than Vagrant Story needing 1h to access the memory card, I think modern QoL has destroyed the fun and community in video games. Exhibit 1: the souls series. Not only did it introduce actual difficulty (not HP bar go brrrrr) in a world where it was gone it also had obtuse storytelling and a lot of missable content. It has resulted in one of the best franchises of the last 10y and a strong community that produces lore and discussion content to this day.

The main issue is in surveys of people who identify as “gamers”, your farmville enjoyer also considers itself a gamer, so AAA studios started to produce games to an audience that didn’t exist. Now the laid off development teams are paying the bill.

There should be more games like Outward, Valheim etc. Fun games that eschewed QoL that should have never existed like map click fast travel anywhere.

Several people who have worked for Naughty Dog say Druckmann and Straley stopped seeing eye-to-eye with Hennig, and that they had fundamental disagreements on where to take the Uncharted series. When Hennig left, she signed a non-disparagement agreement with the studio that would prevent both her and Naughty Dog from making negative public comments about what had happened, according to people familiar with the arrangement.

From “blood, sweat and pixels” which I own. I guess Schreier is also an unreliable source…

You reply like the typical reddit chud: Find something to latch on to, ignore the wider message, ad hominem, leave feeling victorious. Use vote manipulation to feel good about their chud selves with fake internet points.

At the end of the day, Mr woke Druckman doesn’t care for equality, if he did, he wouldn’t hire slavers.

Druckman hiring a lot overseas to cheapen asset production

Receipts for hiring

Ousting of Hennig

DEI for Americans but not if you’re from overseas. Only US BIPOC count, the rest are shithole fodder.

Tax credits from WOTC are quite steep and consultancy can be offset in the R&D tax credit. That’s before mentioning local state incentives.

Typical US companies playing dirty and acting high and mighty. Neoliberalism at its best! And, ofc, the useful idiots that believe in the myth of US exceptionalism being terminally offended at reality checks.

Studios are subcontracting so much shit nowadays that I’m more interested in seeing what comes out of non AAA outfits than anything else. US games are mostly shit presently, the lion’s share of the work is done by low income workers and the peeps stateside get all the money and easy well paid consultant gigs and just enough to cash in on the DEI state subsidies and gov support. It’s absolutely 0 surprise the games are shit, it’s basically sweatshop game making. The funny part is Neil Druckman playing the saviour super woke evolved writer (after stepping on Hennig) but then subcontracts sweatshop work to make his assets. You couldn’t make this shit up.

Yes, it’s totally normal for AAA (and Ubi AAAA) games to enter early access before full release to finance development post ACT I… Yes, BG3 is totally a AAA game and Larian a AAA studio… FML! One can’t look exclusively at budget, especially when most of it went into development and not marketing.
