I blow hot air.
Sure, but this is specifically about consoles. They don’t have the same open market that PC digital games have so the only way to not be price gouged is buying physical.
Bluray is extremely scratch resistant. I’m sure there are extreme cases, but scratched disks haven’t been a problem for 15+ years.
Lmao. I primarily game on PC. I own hundreds of digital games. Even with it’s superior sales and open market, PC struggles to beat buying a used game from marketplace or ebay.
Also, are you seriously dissing physical media? The benefits of actually owning something cannot be overstated. Even with Steam, you’re technically just buying a revokable license to play a game. Physical media can not be revoked, it can be resold/shared, and it works offline. See: the recent PSN outage where people were locked out of their digital games for a few days.
Plus, having a physical collection is just plain fuckin cool.
I mean, what other type of controller would you buy on PC if you’re looking to buy a game controller? Unless you’re not including 3rd party controllers as “console controllers”. Afaik, the xbox pro controller is still considered the best controller to use on PC, and while it is made by Microsoft, it’s not a controller that comes with the console.
The PC controller market just isn’t large enough to support pc-only controllers. Of course the recommendation is to always buy a console controller, pc controllers don’t exist! 😂
Yes, I know some games have their own controller type like flight sticks, game pads, and OSU, but nobody is seriously using those for rocket league and elden ring.
Thank you! Ever since the start of the Epic Store, I’ve always thought this whole “exclusive” scandal was blown out of proportion. There is a MASSIVE difference between a game being exclusive to a $400+ console vs to a free launcher that you can install in 5 minutes and add your already multi-launcher platform.
R6S has been a pay-to-win mess after the first few “seasons”. What’s the difference between a subscription service and regular releases of “optional” $30 dlc that gives you new characters, and thus an edge over the competition?
R6S players will cope by saying characters are balanced and, if you’re good, you can win with just the basic free characters. The fact is, more characters lets you adapt to, and more effectively counter, more maps, play styles, opposing characters, metas, etc…
Yes, you can unlock the characters for free, but there are dozens of them and each one takes a ridiculous number of hours to unlock, during which you’re playing at a disadvantage. It’s pretty much impossible for anyone other than dedicated school-aged kids to unlock all of the characters for free.
All of this, and the game still costs money to buy!!! Complete scam.
I own and like the steam link, but the reason they don’t sell it anymore is because the steam link app is on most smart devices now, and if your TV doesn’t support it, you can buy a streaming stick that does for like $30, give or take depending on sales. And those devices are more portable (less wires) and more versatile than a steam link.
Any competitive price for the steam link would be less than what Valve can produce them for. Weren’t they selling it for $5 at the end? Pretty sure I picked mine up for $10 or less. Steam can’t show ads to subsidize the price of the hardware like every other smart device does.
But there’s a little hitch – the modder didn’t share any videos comparing the regular game physics to the modded ones. So, we’re in the dark about whether this mod is really worth your time or not. We also can’t say for sure if it’s a big improvement over the D.R.O (DRAMATIC RAGDOLL OVERHAUL Mod), which is also made by hunter14322.
Isn’t that your job then, as a journalist? Why even bother writing an article at all if it comes with an asterisk that the mod may be a complete waste of time?
Yeah, companies like Google are too big and have too much influence over society/politics, but calling them a search monopoly seems like a stretch. Of all the evil things companies like Google do, we’re going after them for paying other companies to make them their default search engine? It takes all of 30 seconds to change the default, though I admit most people won’t, mostly because they honestly have no reason to.
Google funds Mozilla by paying to be Firefox’s default search engine (and probably other royalties for search-related stuff?). In 2021, payments from Google made up 83% of Mozilla’s revenue.
Why would Sony care about GameStop’s share price? Physical stores already are using the shelf space for more profitable things. GameStop’s shelf space is like 90% not-games now, plus they’re closing down tons of physical locations to focus on online sales.
Physical games still exist because they’d lose too many sales if they exclusively sold digital games. Otherwise, they’d happily stop selling physical games since they make less money for every physical game sold. Money gained from digital-only sales is less than money lost from pissed off customers not buying your console or games at all, so they keep physical games.
PC is not cheaper because there are no physical games, lol. How would less options and less competition lower prices? PC is cheaper because nobody has a monopoly on digital games so stores need to run sales to attract customers. This article is literally about Sony restricting digital sales to their own store so they can have a monopoly and artificially raise prices.
