FF16 is not an incredible game. But it sure is easy to button mash your way to a win, especially considering how good some of the trinkets are (acquired at start of the game). The music is solid, the writing is interesting enough, and the visuals are great, provided you can run it well.

If you can get your hands on a misty step scroll, invis potion + longstride/jump spell, speed potion, or dimension door, you can free Aylin in turn 1 (provided you freed her). Granted, that doesn’t make the fight a free win, but she sure can eat a lot of hits. Also, putting sanctuary on a full healer is very useful.

Not because they’re required to, but because their console platform is dying lol. I mean, I welcome the changes, but I’m sure long-time Xbox users are not as happy with it.

But if their argument is that you can simply ignore mods you disagree with, then those individuals should stop brigading against and whining about, say, a mod that enables queer relationships. As their own arguments imply, they can simply ignore those mods.

They should really pick a side instead of cherrypicking what’s convenient for them.

Welp. Almost all of the conversations I’ve read about this change have devolved into “hopefully the new owners don’t enforce their political views.”

They always say shit like “if you don’t like a mod, don’t use it,” but they can’t wrap their heads around the idea that if they can’t tolerate the (ex-)site owner exercising his own moral beliefs, they can find a different platform.

Fun.

This is the game I used to convince my film nerd friends that games can be art too. They really enjoyed playing through it!

The game doesn’t really explain this, but you get different dodge animations when you are using an extra light build. To me, this made the game feel more like bloodborne, which made the combat easier to read. Eventually, I ended up parrying everything instead of dodging, but I really like how the game plays in this state. YMMV

Expedition 33 has me hooked. Amazing game.

You can actually get bonus ghosting if you switch to FSR Performance with frame gen!

Don’t worry too much about early game speech checks. The game knows your skill levels are low, so the story plays into Henry needing to improve. Also, don’t be afraid to flee a fight you aren’t prepared for. You won’t majorly ruin future content unless you start murder hobo-ing. Enjoy the game! It’s quite a treat in my opinion :)

How far in are you? In the beginning section of the game, >!Henry and Hans have a big fallout, but it eases up after the first main story beat!<.

If anyone here is playing KC:D2, the actor for Hans Capon (Luke Dale) made a mini-docu on the threat of AI to voice acting. I thought it was well edited and presented the problem in a very digestible way for those who know little about AI, so here it is for anyone interested: https://youtu.be/R55QzK8Hles

I don’t think microtransactions are inherently bad, they are just used in the most greedy, money-grabbing ways.

There are some free-to-play games that don’t restrict your access to any gameplay at all as a free player, which can only be subsidized by microtransactions. If it’s just cosmetics, and they’re priced fairly, I wouldn’t feel any concern over it.

I say this as someone who will put 100 hours into a f2p game and maybe spend $10-20 on a skin or two. I feel that it’s fair to spend that much after reaping so many hours of play.

If it isn’t stimulating enough, simply play both characters at the same time - mouse and keyboard with hands, controller with feet :)

I use spacebar for run and shit to jump.

Explosive diarrhea propulsion?

If you like Jak, you’ll have a blast with Ratchet and Clank. Lots of good ol action platforming.

Klonoa 2 and Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom might also be worth looking into. I specifically remember finding tons of shortcuts in SBBB that were probably unintended, but that game also got a remaster in the last few years.

I would maybe suggest modding your defence to a high level, unlocking defence perks, and spamming block. The combat certainly becomes more manageable as you level up, unless you’re simply fighting a group of people by yourself. Then it never gets easier.

I don’t know about this, but only because Steam has a very unique position in their market. Lots of intense loyalists for Steam means long-term projects yield hype and reputation.

For example, the Steam Deck was a high cost high impact long-term project, and it wasn’t even in the interest of leading the handheld gaming market. It still brought them a lot of good press, and it also spearheaded the adoption of handheld gaming PCs - whether running SteamOS, Windows, or other linux distros - most of which are using Steam as the primary gaming library.

They just know that line going up steadily is more valuable than line going up exponentially until people get sick of your shit.

It will always be weird to me that microsoft sells some games both on the microsoft store app and the xbox app, but other games exclusively through the xbox app.

I played RoR1 a couple years after release, RoR2 on release, and RoRR on release. I still like 1/Returns better than 2, but I like 2 as well. They are honestly pretty similar in gameplay, but I think the 2d style leaves a lot more room for boss moveset creativity.

It’s getting really fucking annoying to look at steam reviews and discussions and running across several “is it woke?” posts.

Often times, it will be “one black NPC in a historically white environment, one female in a combat position, it’s been ruined by wokeness.”

Or often “two non-essential NPCs are in a gay relationship, stay away” when they could be entirely avoided by accident.

It’s disappointing.

I’ve been really into Meridian 59 lately, but haven’t been playing in the past couple of weeks. Thanks for the reminder.

I watched the documentary that GSC released about the development of S2… It was a whole struggle. The company rented buses as tensions increased with plans to move the staff and their families to the western border of Ukraine.

Several devs stayed in Kyiv where GSC’s building is, and some even went to get enlisted.

That Dragon, Cancer turned me into a blubbering sobbing mess.

There’s are so many spots in the game that could hit someone the hardest, and I know what mine was.

Not an RPG but is open world: Hyper Light Drifter

I’ve run it on a potato laptop before, so it should run fine.

You can always use the GOG Galaxy launcher!

which I never use

Digital Rights Management, refers to software or hardware that limits access to something unless the user has authorization/licensing.

It’s why you can’t copy someone’s game folder from steam and run it, or burn a PS2 disc and play it on an unmodded console.

What input did you play on? The camera was fine for me on mouse and keyboard, which is funny because From games are usually pretty bad on m&k. Terrain navigation was at its worst when invisible walls were plentiful, but overall, I didn’t struggle with navigation. Also, as someone who is mildly familiar with JTTW, the story was a bit confusing but followable.

Redout 1 and 2 are great fun if I’m in the mood for lap times, but I hate racing against the NPCs.

I’ve been seeing some NIB triple-fan 6750XTs drop as low as $300 in the last few months. I paid $420 just over a year and a half ago ;-;

So, did you find out that PC gaming doesn’t require a fee, or did you find out that console gaming requires a fee? I’m guessing the latter.

Croakoloco

A small and simple semi-idle frog collecting game where you simply collect rare frogs and let them generate buckaroos so you can collect rarer frogs. There’s a free demo that got me hooked to occasionally logging on and collecting more frogs.

It’s like publishers want people to pirate games. We know that’s surely not true, but their practices seem to make it the only option to appreciate the entirety of the game, and eventually the game itself.

The co-op sucks, but I’m pretty certain invasions don’t occur unless you summon somebody.

If you’re adamant about playing co-op without invasions, you have to mod the game, unfortunately.

Lots of people in the comments self-reporting their habits in games with voice chat… yikes…

Having witnessed teenage boys moaning into a microphone for an entire 25-minute match because my friend (a woman) spoke twice, I would say that it has nothing to do with growing thick skin.

My friend has thick skin. They heard it, muted everyone, calmly asked me to be the middleman for important callouts, and we played out the match. That is just normal there, unfortunately.
