I’m sure I remember when PA was first announced it was the first ludicrously overpriced game for early access, and they said the reason was that they only wanted people truly invested in the game to give feedback. It was a clear attempt at a money grab from those most excited. Given this is the same people I’m not surprised by their tactics.

This is well deserved. When the game first launched I could tell something was off about it. It obviously had a dreadful launch.

I can’t remember how many years later I was in the mood for a space exploration and saw NMS had an update. I grabbed it for about £8. Since purchasing it seeing constant substantial updates has been amazing. Every time one comes out I think “Ok guys, you’ve redeemed yourselves, you’re allowed to stop now!”

I like to work on a £1 per hour with my games, I’ve played 85 hours (I know, rookie numbers compared to what some people have) and I’m really pleased with my purchase.

Seeing the pride they have in their game and the efforts they have gone to to make the game they wanted and the lessons Hello Games have learnt, it leaves me looking forward to Light No Fire.

Poor management decisions, drive for profit over making something people will truly love.

FFXVI was made by CBU3 who saw major success with FFXIV. I feel like with the release of the Dawntrail expansion it shows they took their best people to work on FFXVI and it hindered the expansion. Additionally they aimed to cater the game to a completely different crowd than those who loved the previous FF games up to X.

I remember installing CounterStrike before Steam, and then an update forcing Steam install, it was around the years Warcraft 3 came out. I’m sure it was a thing before HL2

Long Term Service Channel. It’s a branch that is used by devices that may not be recommended to be on the latest version of Windows, for example ATMs. When the device needs to essentially be consistently reliable and not received feature updates that could potentially break it.

I had to turn the music off as it got repetitive, but the rest of the audio stays on. The sound effects are so satisfying as everything is counted after playing a hand and you’ve got a bunch of jokers and cards triggering and then flames begin to build up.

I’m guessing the top management didn’t learn that crunch is perceived negatively and doesn’t always yield quality results. I’m so glad I never backed this game all those years ago.

The subscription fee imo is warranted given they release new content every 3 months, which includes voice acting, new dungeons, and new raid content. If it was a monthly sub with nothing released between expansions it wouldn’t be acceptable imo. Highly recommend not having a recurring sub

I have 3,400 hours in this game. What I enjoy is that I’m not expected to dedicate my life to it. I pay for 30 days at a time and play when new content is released every 3 months.

I know the last expansion Dawntrail is being slated on Steam reviews, but gameplay wise it was great. The music was solid as always, the Arcadion content was fun and the new zones looked great. Given how good the story has been in the past expansions I can understand how hard it must be to write a whole new story arc and make everyone happy. Some people want something entirely new, while others want to keep it all the same.

This weekend just gone I’ve been playing Sins of a Solar Empire II & Steam World Heist II. Both great games, the style and music in SWHII is really well done, and a worthy successor to the first game.

“It’s the anxiety associated with real-time conversations, potential awkwardness, not having the answers and the pressure to respond immediately” - this hits the nail on the head for me about not wanting to be on the phone/teams call in the work place. Being pulled into a call with no context is my biggest nightmare.

Honestly at this moment it’s the style they are going for. It’s difficult to describe, it’s kind of old timey tech noir. The base gameplay feels very similar to SMITE.

I’ve got access to the game on steam, the game feels very alpha stage at the moment. There’s already a good roster of characters to choose from and the style is interesting.

It looks like a VR tech demo that they decided to change into a non-vr game.

If it were me I would add a giant creature into it that has a personality depending on how I and the villagers treat it. Maybe change the name to something that rhymes with “Back and Kite” and slap a number on it, the number 3 feels right for some reason.

The key thing here is that they are tools.

I asked an artist friend who is staunchly against the use of AI for art to draw a spider wearing flip flops. I generated an image of it in what took probably 30 seconds, after 3 weeks he came back with a drawing that imo is better than what the AI produced. I wonder, had my friend made use of AI (meeting half-way) could he have reduced the time it had taken and on top of that produced a better image than what the AI did on its own?

The game seems to have just come out of nowhere, now I’m seeing lots of articles popping up based on how uninterested players are. I don’t know how much interest there is in 5v5 shooter games?

It sucks. A lot of businesses, not just in game development, are getting rid of contractors as they’re expensive. I hope those contractors successfully find work soon.

I tend to watch Clemmy Games to see what indie games are coming up. There are a lot of duds, but then you come across a diamond in the rough. Clemmy does a great job for me, releasing videos almost every day and I would recommend giving the channel a go!

A friend of mine was really eager to play this together in co-op so I picked it up. Day 1 I remember shooting a zombie ghoul creature, as I shot it, it merged into the ground and became invulnerable. This happened in a couple of places and everything felt janky. I think F76 was the point where I decided to stop doing day 1 purchases/pre orders. Never played it since, so no idea how much it’s improved, either way Bethesda got my money 💰

Endless Dungeon with a friend. It was entertaining but we finished a full run after not too much time and we’re both pretty disappointed. The base gameplay was good, but it really felt like a demo, no real drive to play it again

I think one of the great things about the WAR collectors edition was that you got some excellent merch with it. You got a metal figure (worth around £40 these days), a really good art book, a mousepad (I used mine for many years) and a graphic novel. Sure the MMO was a failure largely in part because EA acquired Mythic and forced the game out the door, but the collectors edition was well worth its price for people that love Warhammer.

The cost Blizzard are charging for a game with digital assets that cost nothing to duplicate is genuinely awful.

I can see the writer’s point with regard to Encarta being a much more interactive experience that you don’t get with the likes of Wikipedia, but you’re right, it’s not that unfortunate that knowledge is being shared by Wikipedia for free
