Seems like such a company would quickly drop their journalism branch if it’s the merch that’s providing traffic and revenue.

I was somewhat interested when I heard the rumours for this, but the trailer really doesn’t instill much confidence

I’d say both are pretty well known by indie game standards, especially baba

Then we have artists from other gaming studios that are jumping into the Palworld controversy bandwagon. Shouldn’t these artists focus on their games? Or how about this? You are a 3D artist so you most likely have the appropriate tools installed on your PC. Export a 3D model from Palworld and do some investigation. It should be easy for you.

What a dumb take. Leaving the whole palworld debacle aside, is this person seriously saying that game artists shouldn’t ever do anything that’s not directly related to their game? Are they going to tell Gordon Ramsey to stop making TV programs to focus on cooking? People aren’t defined by their job.

Saying artists would already have the tools installed is also kinda dumb. Just because they can open and edit files doesn’t mean they would have tools and knowledge to rip them from the game.

Earlier in the article they’re blaming the media for not properly investigating these claims, something I can somewhat get behind, but why is this now also being extended to game artists? Should everyone fact check every single claim they see on the internet?

That’s fair enough, but it’s still an awards show, surely those should be the important bit? If wants to be the next E3 it shouldn’t do that half-assed and either split it off into a separate show, or drop the awards so a better show can get the focus.

Physical games degrade. They can get filthy or stop working. I’m talking about reselling digital games. If I want to play for example the last of us, I would have zero incentive to buy a new digital copy if I can buy a resold licence from someone who already finished it for a much lower price.

On top of that, digital games also don’t have to deal with actually needing to transfer between buyer and seller. You don’t need to meet up or send it by mail. It’s an instant transaction that has a much larger pool of sellers and customers.

This heavily favours games with a high replayability factor, and games that aren’t very repayable aren’t inherently inferior. Consider puzzle games or games with some kind of major twist. If you know what to do in outer wilds you can complete it in 20 minutes or so. Similar thing for the witness. These are extreme examples but it applies to things like story based games too.

They got done dirty, I hadn’t even heard of the lamplighters league until a friend of mine at triumph mentioned it recently. Paradox majorly dropped the ball on this one, with setting the release so close to the widely anticipated city skylines 2 and then not doing any advertising for it.

Yeah I remember having issues only once and I’m pretty sure that was Waze rather than Android Auto.

I’d say the lowest bars are letting people change controller bindings and not adding features that rely purely on colour.

More likely he wanted to retire but still enjoyed meeting fans

it’s also free for anyone that played in early access.
