I’m not sure I want a ‘soft reset’ in the middle of the game. The whole point is to play one civilization through to victory.
When the age transition finally comes, it’s like one game ends then another begins.
But why? If I wanted a new game, I’d go to the main menu and click “new game”. I want to keep playing my existing one! I don’t want to have to change civs half way through the game. I see that you get to keep some advantages, like your existing territory and commanders, but were people asking for this? I don’t understand the appeal of this.
I can say that the question of whether this is the best iteration yet will probably be redundant until all the expansions roll out and we see the full vision enacted.
Indeed. At least I’ll have the benefit of reading feedback from 5+ years of DLC and expansions until they bundle it all into a reasonable “complete” edition and I pick it up.

I’ve watched a couple gameplay videos by the dev and it looks good.
I haven’t bought anything. We’ve still got another week to go though, so I might pick up something. I’m a patient gamer so I’m still waiting for Cyberpunk and expansion to come down in price. Otherwise there isn’t a whole lot that interests me right now.
I’m mostly waiting on updates for a few games I already own: Balatro is getting a big update in the new year, Enshrouded, Against the Storm, and Timberborn. I should get back in to BG3 too. I bought it on release and put 20 hours in and then just… stopped playing.
As of now, Star Citizen has raised $769,261,551. Three quarters of a billion dollars.
And now they say they need to fire the QA department to “laser focus” to meet the deadlines of the release. That’s when you need QA the most. Otherwise that release is going to be a fucking mess.
I call bullshit. This is a money saving decision, which means they’ve blown through their $760 million dollar bank account. Insane.
I’m waiting for the last Civ7 expansion pack to be released.
