The hardware being built right now is not usable by consumers. What would you do with a raw HBM chip? You can’t put it yourself on a gpu, nor on a ram stick.
Want a gpu? I hope you have a 3k Watt power supply to handle one of them.
They are not making consumer products anymore. Only data centre tier hardware.
Gone are the days of buying hundreds of Gb of ram and older xeon cpu from decom’ servers, a cheap motherboard to tie it all together.
None of that will be usable by us pleb.
Even when the AI bubble pops, all hardware manufacturing will still be making datacentre grade hw, and either won’t go back to consumers, or it will take months to pivot the factory.

Afaik the files exfiltrated were photos that the on device detection could not identify and were uploaded to verify server side. That would mean not all pictures are sent to the backend, and that corroborates why “only” 70k photos were stolen when discord has millions of users verified.
Of course you have to put your trust in a closed source system so best not to upload, but if true it’s still a far cry from openly lying about it. It’s probably explicitly stated in their ToS that they may upload the file if the verification fails client side.

I agree with you, especially since allegedly this mod doesn’t contain copyrighted materials from the games. Compared to a source engine mod where your code is based on their SDK which is licensed to you under non commercial, I think it’s fair game here.
However I read that the VR mod in question was not in perpetuity and you had to be subscribed to download updates, which tarnishes a bit your point. But continued support may very well be worth a couple money every few months.

IIRC, they did not really know what the first game was about while developing it. I remember reading a dev blog about them adding a bug report in game with screenshot attached, and how that helped them understand players expectations and direct the development of the game towards that instead of having a pre-defined vision of the final game.
The 3700x was 320$ and the 3600x 200$.
But I get you, running games at a higher resolution is prettier than upscaling to get better frame rate.
I think a lot of ppl don’t know that the PS5 is upscaling most games and is not running a native 4k generally. Then they compare to pc hardware that does native 4k and say it’s more expansive 🤷♂️
The PS5 has a CPU equivalent of a Ryzen 2600. You didn’t have to spend 500 bucks on a CPU to outperform it.
The 3600x was released a year before the PS5, and was $200 on launch. You either got screwed over or don’t know what your talking about?
GPU wise it’s different, but there were compounding factors that inflated the prices. If you got a GPU from before the pandemic, chances are $800 would get you top of the line, which probably outperform the PS5 even to this day.
Now does a PS5 cost less ? Sure, they sell them at a loss and make money on games and online scam subscription services.
Edit: my bad the PS5 has a 3700x, so the 3600x comparison is still valid. Can’t check the release price of the 3700vs3600 but it’s not 2x higher anyway.
Holy shit this still exists?!
