I’d love to see Doom as an Assassin’s Creed style game, where instead of it being wall to wall high-intensity violence there is a slower-pace open world story and every once in a while you’re dropped into a kind of death match arena to face a boss, but you can also run into them in the wild and have to scramble to take them out before they get ya.

I appreciate this post because holding ps4 controllers for more than an hour gives me carpal tunnel. I think one of the best parts of playing vidya is the progress through the game, and I have found that watching others’ progress is interesting as well. This is just me figuring out the Twitch business model about fifteen years too late…

Even then it’s only real while you’re continuing to pay for the privilege to play

Mine went away almost entirely when I switched from mouse to rollerball, but I do still get something similarly unpleasant when I play PS4 for too long

I destroyed online MW2 for endless hours back in the day but now I can get about an hour of AC Odyssey in before my thumbs go numb and start to hurt from carpal tunnel. I might have to go back to PC gaming

That’s pretty good

Carpal tunnel is a bitch

Exactly, picked up RDR2, AC Odyssey and Bloodborne for about $45 recently. This constant pressure to move people toward a subscription model only works if there’s trust. Too much bullshit = shrinking sales

Imagine openly admitting that you’re a director

I tried to install Skyrim and my disc was unreadable

Fair point, even with upgrades a la Cyberpunk 2077, the lost sales out of the gate are unlikely to be made up a year and a half later when they release the game they should have released in the first place

I did this with Ghosts of Tsushima. I played on hard mode but when I dueled against other samurai I often dropped to easy mode after getting destroyed fifteen or twenty times

Waiting + delay ≠ waiting.

I’ll wait for a good game no problem, but if they push the launch three times I start to twitch

I like the Assassins Creed way, where you can only fast travel to places you’ve discovered already

I’d love an open world game where you start as a Star Trek ship and just explore for hundreds of hours, stumbling upon adventures/civilizations taken directly from the massive repo of lore that exists from all the shows.

I feel like to do it properly would take a decade

People think they want an 8" phone but when you get right down to it, 5" is plenty
