That’s true, but they still usually aim to be the first “next gen” console on the market every generation. Admittedly it probably would really affect them if they didn’t hit that but that’s how they’ve always done it

Yeah, obviously. The interesting thing is that the Witcher 3 and Bloodborne hold up so well though and are still actively talked about. The Witcher 3 still looks beautiful even without the recent upgrades and Bloodborne could look fantastic if it wasn’t limited by the PS4 specs.

It’s kind of a testament to the fact that we’ve mostly plateaud in terms of real graphical advances imo

I refuse to get my hopes up until a game is already released and even then I’m going to question it

That definitely makes more sense. Admitedly I didn’t put much thought into it

How does that work anyway? Would any American public domain usages of the characters be banned from release in the EU?

It’s going to be many many years before we see a PS6 emulator. We’re only just starting to get Bloodborne (PS4) working on PC now

It’s your game you do as you please. I would definitely save scum

I miss MC Hunger Games servers. Are any still around?

The second KCD is coming out later this year too so nows the time to try it!

I’ve been playing Enotria: The Last Song. So far seems like a solid souls like but it has wicked performance issues right now. I’m really digging the vibe of the main demo city but I’m barely hitting 40fps on low settings with an RTX 3070ti

I remember having to reverse engineer an API owned by my own company because our team was too far removed from theirs. The whole situation was crazy

$500 would be an insane price. 16TB drives alone are like $300-500 CAD

Haha I guess it’s also an easy tag to apply to nearly anything. Slightly dark theme? Horror. Mildly upsetting? Horror. Involves a monster of some kind? Also horror.

I think it’s because horror’s a fairly easy genre to get into. It’s the same reason there’s a lot of indie horror movies I’d imagine

Agreed. Also a good time to buy it. Act 3 was so buggy on release but they’ve been shooting out patches non stop for the last year almost

Open source devs have to deal with the most entitled, messed up people, I swear

Was surprised at this since it’s not connected to Nintendo in any way, but it turns out it’s not actually related to the Yuzu news:

This doesn’t come as a surprise for many, though, as the AetherSX2 emulator halted development entirely back in 2023, with the developer specifically mentioning the “neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and now death threats”. Although, it took almost a year for the actual emulator app to be taken down from the Play Store, following the discontinuation of the project

Yeah, fair I could have worded that better. Finding better ways of funding is the goal

The issue is that Firefox alone doesn’t pay the bills and I’d imagine they really want to get away from being dependent on the Google deal they have.

We don’t need AI stuff but if they can get some good funding from it, they can put more into the browser

Hah, I just played through Black Mesa recently and was thinking it could use a remake since it’s starting to show it’s age a bit. I’d love to see it done using Source 2

Edit: after actually reading the article, apparently this is like a reverse remake which is still pretty neat

Kind of applies to the souls series. I’d be happy with any of the games being re-released with only new levels added. I just wanna slap monsters with a sword in beautiful castles

I ran out of new games to play so I’m back to my default of Dark Souls. Replaying DS2: SOTFS at the moment with a Dex/Faith character.

No matter how many times I replay the games, I can never not go in on dex stats haha

The people behind those reverse engineered servers are legends. I recently was able to play through the original Demon’s Souls with fully working multiplayer which just blew my mind

It still calls itself an MMO in its Steam description:

The Day Before offers players a uniquely reimagined journey into post-apocalyptic open-world MMO survival set in the present day on the US East Coast following a deadly pandemic.

Has Valve actually given up engine development? Source 2 only just released recently, although not much is using it, to be fair

Edit: read a bit more into it. I guess for the most part, Source 2 isn’t available to the public yet

I think Windows was built in house but on top of DOS which Bill Gates bought off someone

We have inner and outer walls encircling the city and raised rail lines passing between major points of interest. I’d be prepared!

I’d be hanging out in my nice Minecraft city my friends and I are building. Honestly wouldn’t be too bad

Oh yeah you’re right. In that case, I’m not surprised Surveys is dead. I had never heard of that one

I liked Google surveys when I had an Android phone. I did a survey here and there and it would pay for my Duolingo subscription

The Minecraft wiki used to be it’s own thing before moving to Fandom didn’t it? Either way, very happy about this

Yep I understand now! Thanks for the explanation. I don’t get how that’d be fun unless the person just enjoys being an asshole…

Ahh thanks, that does sound really shitty to do.

How exactly does smurfing work? I don’t play Dota and the description on the page doesn’t really help me understand
