KC:D is one of my favourite games but I did the same. I had to enable godmode to get through it

I have no interest in a hardcore mode though.
Definitely don’t start hard mode then. I thought i was good at the combat. Started hard core and proceeded to get my ass kicked, repeatedly.
Now i have to actually learn the combos and use weapons other than a short sword. Heavy weapons are your friend when the enemy is heavily armored.

Well yeah, you won’t play the game without buying it. The hardcore mode update is free, though.
